I haven't watched any matches this season, but assumed Devin would take the Gatorade POY. How did she do this season?

Well, Robyn has 2 scholarships remaining for the 2022 recruiting class, if I am not mistaken. Wondering if she is holding on to the both of them for one Devon Kahahawai, the other for Maui Robins.

She is making better contact on her swings and hits a nice D ball. She seems to have a lot more confidence in her game as well. Maui Robins is a better all around player IMO. She is better defensively and on serve receive that's probably the reason she got it over Devin IMO.

As much as I'd like to see Hawaii keep two fantastic players home, I can't see Hawaii using two scholarships in one class on outsides. Hawaii is loaded with outside hitters. In fact, just based on the projected roster in 2022, it would make more sense for Hawaii to shoot for a middle and a libero. But alas, it does seem like Ah Mow would give a scholarship to a six-rotation outside over a libero lol. If Hawaii did get both, I also wouldn't mind haha. Kahawahai is a type of D1 outside that doesn't come out of Hawaii often. Last one with the height and physicality was probably Nikki Taylor. And altho Robins is smaller, well-rounded and a solid backcourt player.

Maui and Devin are the one-two punch Hawai'i needs. Coach Rob would really be showing the local girls that the door is open if they work hard.

This isn't the 80s anymore. We'll see. Kentucky tore Texas apart with their undersized outside and middle, Devin is 6' 2", Maui is closer to 6' than 5' 11", and still a junior. A legit 6' OH who can play 6 rotations is better than a 6' plus front-row specialist. Both have hops.

Robins might not even have us on our radar so who knows.. And the insider already alluded to having a MB recruit from Poland.

Well, UH has scholies for Hawaiian students that could help until a scholie opens up.

Robyn will always give a 6 rotation player a scholarship over a Libero. Robyn has shown that she is only going after players who are able to play 6 rotations. That comes from all her time on the Olympic Team. For a Libero to be awarded a scholarship from Robyn, that player has to be over the top better then any player in the nation.

Both Maui and Devin are legit 6-rotation players. They can hit from all rotations right now in high school, and with the proper offensive schemes, I believe they would be weapons anywhere. They both play exceptional defense and they each have wicked serves.

In 2021, the Wahine will have 11 players on scholarship, 8 returning players and 3 true Freshmen.
The 8 returning players on scholarship:
Amber Igiede (Middle) - Sophomore Riley Wagoner (Outside Hitter) - Sophomore Kaylee Glagau (Outside Hitter) - Freshman Kate Lang (Setter) - Freshman Tiffany Westerberg (Middle) - Sophomore Braelyn Akana (Outside Hitter) - Sophomore Mylana Byrd (Setter) - Junior Anna Kiraly (Middle) - Freshman
3 Incoming Freshman, who are taking Brooke Van Sickle, Skylar Williams, and Jolie Rasmussen's scholarships
Annika de Goede (Opposite) Mia Johnson (Outside Hitter) Martyna Leoniak (Outside Hitter)
If my math is correct, Robyn will have only 1 scholarship available for 2022, if Mylana Byrd decides to stay for the 2022 season. She will be classified as a Junior in 2021. That 1 available scholarship is already awarded to Matias (Setter). So unless some scholarship players leave, Robyn as of now has NO Scholarships available for Devin Kahahawai, or even Maui Robins.
