I’m all for a Nikki and Norene serve. Those serves were very effective. But they do need to be supplemented with strong jump floaters as well. Yeah those are the exception. At this point in time, Johnson has pace but kind of erratic and no change of direction. It will get better and for Demirtas who knows how that looks in real game time. Johnson’s got technique issues that render her serve to a roll shot. I have seen Demirtas swing in warm ups and she does have a cannon. She also seems to have better footwork than the other freshman but then again this is only hitting lines where many players can look amazing.

We need a jump server with rocket 🚀 boosters like Norene and Nikki had. That was always something beautiful to watch. higgins too ... from that 'era' ... is it too soon to refer that time frame as an era? haha ...

Unless you have a Micha freakin Hancock type of serve I don't think it's worth it. iosia at texas has a lethal one. she was using it earlier in the season to great effect. but she's since pulled back to a floater. (maybe lost some consistency/efficiency on it ... or maybe they just want the more conservative strategy on serving, and let their block and offensive weapons amass points)...

Higgins serve in that 5th set against Florida in 2015 was amazing. She gave the team control in the 5th set.

I saw Demirtas too and people were right, her jump reach looks a bit low for her height.

Yeah she has an arm on her. But it’s nothing like Norene’s. Norene has great body control from toss to approach to swing and finish. Beautiful top spin server.

Not to be mean but from what I've seen of Ilayda she'd have trouble jumping over a phone book....showing my age...do they even have phone books anymore?

Too bad she never got her personal issues in check and ended up transferring.

Hopefully Ilayda can improve on her jumping skills during the off season.

Seems a lot have to say on her negatives. Any positives?

We know she brings height and seems to be powerful. We also see that she may not jump all that well.
