Hopefully, the Hellvig situation is a fluke. Our men’s team have had great success with international players. Freshman MB Anna Kiraly made it to Hawaii from Hungary during the pandemic and so did some of our other Olympic sport athletes. I honestly don’t think COVID was the real reason why Hanna didn’t come back. I sense she was homesick and missed her family and friends. COVID was a way to make the separation less painful. Our BW champion men’s volleyball team and our BW champion women’s water polo teams are loaded with international players . They all made it to Hawaii during COVID . The UH men's volleyball team were NOT BW champs they were BW chokes after losing to a much lower ranked UCSD team Open mouth, insert foot lol

Why are people talking about setters leaving/coming in? Lol there is currently no setter on the UH roster that anyone here has seen perform in a UH jersey. Lets have that happen first and then let everything else fall into place.

Lang is the setter of the present and future.

I think people are simply theorizing since koa has been an insider in terms of recruiting/transfers, and on the previous page, they indicated that the wahine might be adding in a setter for this upcoming season. This poster isn't necessarily always right on everything that they say, but I do trust them overall when it comes to the information that you provide. If you do not trust the information that this poster provides, then that's fine, but others are simply theorizing what setter the poster may have been talking about. I agree that we don't necessarily need a new setter at the moment with Lang and Byrd, and personally, I would love to see Lang setting because she looks like a solid setter, and I would like to see how she develops over four years. However, if Robyn decides to bring in a setter, and it happens to be a player like Ka’aha’aina-Torres, then I have no problem with that.

I was watching the live feed the other day from Volley that had Mylana, BVS, Jolie, Kalei, Harlee, Wagoner(?), Adora, etc. on the court and Mylana has nice hands and set some really nice balls. Between her and Lang setting won't be a problem next year and in the foreseeable future. I agree with you that if Saige joins UH no problem! Competition will only make the team better. The more the merrier!

Saige was a 2019 AA honorable mention. She aim’t no slouch. If she does end up here, I think she will play/start.. You cannot teach D1 high level experience. Robyn could still run the 6-2 even if Saige is a decent blocker. Robyn might want to have 3 hitters in the front row at all time so there is room for Kate and Saige to play in a 6-2.

Not sure if there is a link to the entire livestream, but here is a video with more highlights from it. A lot of them are BVS highlights, and there is one highlight of Jolie taking a nice swing. www.volleyhawaii.com/?wix-vod-video-id=4aa8a74f51de40ceb54ac9316579ba02&wix-vod-comp-id=comp-kof27vryThe video does not appear to be loading, though if you go to the website that the video is linked to, you can scroll down to the Open Gym section, and the video that pops up over there should be the highlight video.

Oh i must have missed mention of talks of bringing in a setter for the upcoming season. If it’s coming from a credible source and there’s a possibility that it’s Torres, I’m all for it. I thought some were writing Byrd off because of Matias coming, when we haven’t seen anything from Mylana as a wahine yet. I do understand at the end of the day Byrd and Lang are mostly unproven setters at the collegiate level so I’m not going to say no to really solid experience. However, I do have a lot of faith in Coach Rob’s style of relentless hard work and i know she will be toughest on that position so i am excited to see what the offense will look like and who will run it

If someone of Saige’s caliber wants to be part of the team, you have to make an effort to get her on the team. She could be the difference between being good and being very good.
