Redshirt? I don’t think so. Not too many top prospects....especially someone of Devin stature will want to redshirt. Redshirt are for projects or players who entered the program injured and need a year to rehab.
If Devin signs with UH she will probably compete for the starting job.

I wonder if, UH can already be on court practicing for this fall season? Or do they have a certain time limit that they could practice with full team?

I just noticed something... where's Wolfgang been? I was told to look at this thread and found this post. LOL! I'm healthy. Nothing wrong with me. Got my COVID19 vaccine, both shots. I've been very very busy with my music leagues, which, if you're interested just ask me and I'll get you in. I haven't been reading any Hawaii threads, both men's and women's vb. I can't name a single player on the Wahine squad, current and incoming. I'm beginning to watch the Hawaii men's volleyball matches. I'm on the first home match against UCSD. I hope they do well this season. LOL!

the thought of tournament weekends and the crowds and the cheering and the clapping and the traditions and the upsets. im so excited to see them play again. and ready to watch RAM she's so entertaining to watch. honestly what got me interested in hawaii was her almost throwing a ball back at the players after it hit the ground and bounced to her. lol after that I was hooked.
go bows!!

I’m kind of surprised that Demirtas is not part of the Turkey U19 national team. She looks like somebody that could be national team material. I know Turkey is a powerhouse and the current starting OPP for the national team is only 21 years old but Demirtas is quite the volleyball player for someone who is not yet 18. Her attacks, once past the blocks, looks undiggable.
Maybe Robyn should recruit Turkey every year.

Was reviewing her highlight tape - anyone else wonder why the setter couldn't get the back set to the pins? They were dying maybe three feet in lol.
Overall, quite the impressive freshman class. I think Leoniak's was the best all around. Major pop in her hits, but also a great defensive player and passer. She's probably the freshman with the most potential to start. Feel like Johnson may be next since her all-around game is also quite polished. De Goede and Demirtas have the physical tools to contribute down the line. Hard to figure out how all the pieces will fit in 2021.

A lot of her footage is also about a year old so imagine if she got taller and her skills got better.

As an OPP, Demirtas is not going to have to pass nor do much digging so her all around game is not up to par with Leoniak but Ilyada does what a good OPP should do and that is to terminate at a high level and block. Ilyada also can score with her serving too so she and Martyna will work well together. Kind of like Cowell and Rado did for the men. Cowell with his all around game and Rado with his hitting, blocking and serving. Rado was not exactly an athletic all around player but he was a very good Opposite attacker. I see that in Ilyada.
Mia Johnson can be Chaz Galloway and be the reliable third “Amiga”.
One thing for sure....there will be a lot of competition in the gym. Anybody who struggle will probably have a short lease with so much potential on this team.

With all the tall hitters coming I would just rather have BVS wear the L jersey.

But with everyone at beach, they couldn't even have a full team. Skylar Williams got to be the only middle getting reps again lol.
Right now, I think they're on Summer Break so everything is unofficial, they just are working out and playing pick etc. But we're actually only a few months away from Fall practice.

Igiede was called “raw” and came in the did major damage. On the other hand Riley Wagoner was all everything in Ohio and struggled in her first year. I see less “rawness” in Llyada than I did with Igiede. Amber had suspect footwork in her video and she didn’t exactly play in the highest level in Louisiana. llyada only ‘issue” is she doesn’t look like a high flyer and superb all around player. I think she looks great in the video as an OPP.
