Scully, diouf are not coming to Hawaii. That is 1000 percent certain Didn't you also say that Devon would never consider us? Anywho all I saying is never say never unless it's confirmed... JS

I wonder if Siena Springborn has decided not to play volleyball. I think she initially walked on probably hoping to play during the pandemic year and see if she was D1 material. She seems to have taken down her UH volleyball stuff on her `iG and seems like she has gone back to just being a student at UH.
With all the talent coming in, I doubt Siena will see much court time.

JS I mean they are great players, but we have Leoniak, Johnson, Van Sickle, Wagoner, Akana, Westerberg, and possibly Rasmussen at the OH position, and we also have Demirtas, De Goede, Westerberg, Akana, and Springborn fighting for a spot at the OPP position. We really don't need more pin hitters at the moment, and I'm happy with the pins we have.

Transfers/recruits from 2020 include: 6'2 S transfer Mylana Byrd 6'3 MB Anna Kiraly 5'10 S Kate Lang Will this covid year be considered a red shirt year or will they be considered true freshman due to covid, in the case of Lang and Kiraly? Sophomore with four years eligibility? I believe so. If Van Sickle and Williams are coming back for their "senior season", which would've been 2020, then Kiraly and Lang would be playing in their "freshman year" in 2021, as they would've in 2020.

Excited for Kiraly, Leoniak the most. Had it been a normal year, they would have been 4 years starters. Still can be but doubt it with Williams coming back.

She reminds me of Yaasmeen Bedart Ghani or Falyn Fonoimoana with her size. If UH can get her stronger to touch 10'5 consistently and hit the D, she might be difficult to stop.

Coaches also need to teach her to tool blocks, She hits so hard that balls will fly out of bound and become unreturnable. The best player in men’s volleyball Rado Parapunov was never a high jumper or leaper. He was just good at finding holes and tooling blocks. If llyada can master those skills she will be unstoppable. Having her gain 4 inches in her vertical is probably asking for a little too much. Some people just can’t do that no matter how much they work on it. The ability to leap is probably a God given talent.

If you want to compare to men's then Chaz Galloway went from 11' 4 to 11' 10. She just needs to be Nikki Taylor and go OTT or into the fingers.

He is the type that can do it. llyada seems to be more of big powerful type. I can see somebody like Mia Johnson or maybe even Martyna Leoniak picking up some inches on their vertical. We shall see. To me, I just want her to be productive. If she can pick up those extra inches in her vertical, that would be great. If not, she can still become an elite hitter by being a smarter hitter

Please spell her name correctly. Your frequent misspellings make you sound exceptionally ignorant. She's going to jump higher after weight training more.

Yes Kahahawai and Matias are two of the best. Kahahawai is getting a lot more pop on her swings and she is making better contact. I really like the progress she has made. She is already hitting a nice d ball. That would be a nice weapon for any program that she chooses. In my opinion the strongest part of Matias' game is her defense. Matias is one of those that are an athlete first. She's a good setter and team leader, but the part of her game that makes you say 'DIV-I' is her defense, her ability to put on her track shoes and do something amazing with an errant pass, good VBIQ, and an effective serve. On the beach, I expect she'll do well right away. I see the makings of a solid libero as well, but my guess is Robyn wants to see her set first, probably in a 6-2, and if she isn't starting she'd probably DS quite a bit. Matias’ floor defense is just jaw-dropping. When watching her I find myself blurting out ”holy crap!” a lot. No joke… She is simply amazing. I haven’t been this antsy to see a local high school player wear the wahine jersey since Kanoe Kamanao.

Congrats to the graduates! Does this mean a Rasmussen return for Fall if a degree hasn't been earned yet?
