Well Hawaii, it seems like we are competing for 2 different local players right now (SKT and Kahahawai). Anyone know anything about either? Are y’all projected to get one? Both? Neither? We plan to continue the Hawaiian tradition of leading recruits away from the Longhorns.

Devin could really use Coach Robyn’s animated coaching style! Lily comes to mind when I think of the last time the Wahine were in the picture for a big time recruit with size.

Does anyone knows if UH will have matches before the fall season starts? How far in advance does the UH officials put up current rosters and schedules?

We (UH) will not get one of them for sure. FUN FACT: Jhenna Gabriel, Saige Ka'aha'aina-Torres, & Devin Kahahawai, at one point, all attended Maryknoll Schools at the same time.

I’m assuming it’s Saige as we don’t really need another setter!! To be honest, using that logic, Texas doesn't really need another setter too lol. It might be the weakest position on their team, but they'll still have Gabriel and Cabello. I don't know if the initial comment was gearing more towards the idea that if we were to land Ka'aha'aina-Torres, then we would only have one available scholarship for Matias if Byrd departs from the team after this coming Fall season. If we didn't land Ka'aha'aina-Torres, then we would still have two open scholarships for Matias and Kahahawai. Kahahawai has many offers though, so I'm guessing that the poster was probably talking about Kahahawai.

When was the last local UH recruit that impacted UH season for the better? I say Nikki Taylor.

When was the last local UH recruit that impacted UH season for the better? I say Nikki Taylor. I'm guessing that we're talking about recruits and not transfers, so probably McKenna Granato? She carried a huge load for UH as the go-to hitter during both 2017 and 2018. If walk-ons count, then Rika Okino came into her own during the 2019 season, and I thought that she definitely helped the team get to where they ended up. Would love to see if Akana improves well enough to make it into the line-up, and I'm sure that Matias will make an impact when she's on the team for the 2022 season.

I came across this video of Hannah Helvig playing with the Sweden Nation squad;https://youtu.be/3o3y5Nl7X24 Props to medusa for posting Hanna's game. She comes in the middle of the 2nd set and does well serving, blocking, and spiking. Great to see her again but the international game (if the video was typical) is so sedate compared to Hawaii's. On impulse I sent her a message saying how much I enjoyed seeing her play again. Realize, I'm an old klutz who is social media deficient. I never expected a reply. Surprise, she replied in her warm, polite way. She was sad not to come back but was very grateful for the year she did get in. Said her sister would grad from hs in 3 yrs and would love to attend UH. Her parents raised her up right!

The second coming of Hanna Hellvig? I can see the Hawaii fans now following her career for the next 3 years, hoping.
