Looking forward to see who else joins the Wahine, but going into 2021, Hawaii is 18 players strong (17 if Rasmussen doesn't come back), and honestly there's enough talent and depth for a run in the NCAAs no question. I'm more than happy if this is the final roster for 2021. Wahine will be loaded this year and for years to come!

Still hoping the transfer we are supposedly getting is a Libero. lol potential walk on maybe, power 5 experience My guesses would be Naya Dong (Utah) or Aria McComber (Washington State). Two local players looking to come home?

Martyna club match #2, hope she performs better
Update post match: Martyna gets double digit kills with good passing and defense. She earned match MVP. She was, however, playing against an undersized team with only 8 players. Match # 3 tomorrow will be much more challenging.

Kanani Danielson I believe touched 10'5? But even with her vertical, she had a hard time with a big block. Her overall game though was incredible. Vertical isn't everything. That reminds me, Martyna Leoniak played in a match yesterday for her club team. She got stuffed often and started to fall apart in passing and defense too. Coach eventually yanked her. Hope she gets her form together for the rest of the matches and learns more resilience by the time she gets to Hawaii. I project Leoniak as a starter, but watch for dark horses like Mia Johnson or Westerberg to step in if Leoniak breaks down. Wagoner, Westerberg, Johnson, and Akana may all be less of a project, if that was a typical performance for Leoniak. I'm assuming it wasn't, but then wonder why her game so totally fell apart.
Leoniak's replacement in that match (#13) put on a Ross like performance front and back row; provided her team a big lift, helped bring them back from down two sets for a reverse sweep win, and got the last two points in the fifth set. It was a heck of a comeback. Was also impressed with #16, the other OH starter. She had a very good jump spin serve and consistently came through in the clutch. Leoniak unfortunately reminded me of Castillo on the pin. Struggled with her footwork, didn't hit line, didn't tool well, and at 6'3" still didn't manage to block well. Not contributing in the front row, her back row play was too much of liability to keep her in the match.

I remember Ross had moments when she would just hit hard and into the block too. I think mental toughness or resilience is an intangible that can be of value to a team. Getting stuff blocked twice in a row can be disheartening, but Martyna needs to shake it off and focus on next point. She did have some next-level line shots in match #2 though Also wanted to add that Martyna had played the same team in match #1 just a couple months ago and got 18 kills.

I am of the opinion that, if Robyn does not go after an OH1 transfer, that only means, Jolie will be joining the Wahine team for the upcoming season. We will just have to wait until the 2021 roster comes out, or Jolie confirms it on her social media site, to confirm that she will be part of the Wahine team come 2021.

Anybody have any highlights on Annika DeGoede?
She is a lefty, and a true opposite. We haven't had a lefty in that position since Diana Jessie.

Wiz, These aren't highlights but I dug up some older film of De Goede. She's #5 in blue in both vids. I wasn't particularly impressed with the footage. She hit into the net a couple times and doesn't seem to have lethal hitting. She seems to have the ability to hit OTT sometimes. The other hitters for Hawaii seem to be ahead of her in terms of attacking.

Let's go Martyna! Club championship match!
Post Match Update: Martyna's team wins, but #16 carried the team. Martyna had a decent 1st set in attacking, passing, and defense. She got the "hard into the block syndrome" by the 2nd set and seemed to have difficulty converting junk sets. 3rd set she became a blocking master, but setter ignored her. 4th set the setter continued to ignore her but Martyna went on a serving run.
Congrats to Martyna and I look forward to seeing her develop more. I'm starting to think that Mia Johnson might be the most consistent and dependable of the incoming freshmen lol.

Thanks for posting the three matches. Agree with your observations. Leoniak definitely has potential, and her team went to her in the 1st set, and she came through for them. The 2nd set got ragged for her and her whole team. Her setter did ignore her in the 3rd and 4th set. But for much of the 3rd set and most of the 4th set, the opponent's serve receive and passing broke down and they we're no longer in the match. When Leoniak's team pulled way ahead, the coach played his bench and the setter was giving everyone else lots of opportunity to shine. Leoniak contributed by blocking, digging, passing, setting, and serving, which she did well for the most part.
