Add me to that list of not wanting Hawaii to add a transfer setter. I'd much rather them add a transfer Libero. or perhaps a six rotation hitter? Just remember that the BVS transfer was announced as late as July Why not both..

While we wait for any whispers to be confirmed. Here's #19 Emily Maglio with team Canada. They beat Brazil in the first set but got handled easily afterwards.

or perhaps a six rotation hitter? Just remember that the BVS transfer was announced as late as July Why not both.. Hmm so a libero with Power 5 experience and a freshman six-rotation outside hitter that received all conference honors. I suppose there could be players who fit the bill that aren't noted in the Transfer List or haven't entered the portal yet... but these would be my guesses off the hints some of you folks like to drop. I posted earlier, but two transfer liberos on the Transfer List are Naya Dong (Utah) and Aria McComber (Washington State), and since they are both from Hawaii, I wouldn't be surprised if either transferred home. The only two freshman outsides that fit the hints are Guewe Diouf (Oklahoma) - First Team all Big 12, and I suppose Tommi Stockham (Indiana) - received one conference Player of the Week award. Diouf tho... did she not commit anywhere yet?? That would be a fun get indeed....

Tommi Stockham is amazing and will be a star. Impact transfer. Diouf is not a slouch either. Both would be amazing gets. That said, until we have more info I could consider both to be crazy longshot gets.

Still in the camp of seeing what the ACTUAL recruits from the past 2 classes can do. I want to see Robyn’s recruits put their names on the map like Igiede and Hellvig before she left. Even if there are some growing pains in the beginning, which i have no doubt there will be (new setters, new liberos, new opposite, etc) but excited for what the final finished product would be.
That being said, a solid transfer Libero with real experience would be great. Don’t know if Gong or Hanawahine will be as good as we will need that position to be this upcoming season. And looking back on the last season, I just don’t think we have the proven talent at the setting position to warrant another no libero 6-2, having a rock who is steady on serve receive is going to be crucial and it needs to be someone other than BVS if she does end up hitting.

Hanawahine is good. She was neck and neck with Brooke N at Oregon for the libero position brookes freshman year.

Anybody have any highlights on Annika DeGoede? She is a lefty, and a true opposite. We haven't had a lefty in that position since Diana Jessie. You are forgetting that we had Angel Gaskin. She didn't necessarily live up to her billing, but she was a fun player to watch, especially after not having a lefty at Opposite for decades...literally. I was glad she transferred in because our options at the right side were pretty slim back then. I am really excited about Coach Ah Mow and her staff bringing back the European flair. Growing up watching Wahine Volleyball it was always fun to watch their physical style of play and then to hear them get interviewed on TV with their accents! She was pretty much forgettable. Not to be mean. We’ve had All-Americans on the rightside with players Nikki Taylor and Aneli Cubi-Otineru and then all of a sudden we didn’t have that calibre anymore.

She played Right Side when Choy came in to set.

I however thought Satele was underrated. Loved watching her play there

She was a pretty good pin blocker, her and Brittany Hewitt put up a great block & her serve was pretty decent.

Holding out hope that Gong or Hanawahine will pull an Ashley Watanabe. Watanabe was a serving sub for the MB in 2003, much like Gong in 2018 and Hanawahine in 2019, before taking on the libero position and breaking school records.

As much as i think a solid transfer libero would have me more relaxed about where the season would go, would love it even more if the girls we already have really stepped their game up. Especially Gong, feel like i just haven’t seen what she is really capable of.
