So…so far, I have read that UH will be playing Marquette, TAMU, and Fairfield in some tournament and also slated to play USC at SSC. Sounds like a pretty good non conference schedule so far. Hopefully, UH can put together one more tournament and be done with non conference play. I'm sorry if I missed it, but where was it found that USC would play at the SSC? If we do play USC, I'm guessing it will be on week three or week four of the season. It’s now official. USC schedule is out and will be at SSC on September10-11. pac-12.com/usc-womens-volleyball/scheduleLooking forward to a new rivalry. See you there Michelsilva. Enjoy your bumbucha….LOL

So... let's switch it to an annual USC-Hawaii rivalry... you down? I’m down with this new “rivalry”. I don’t see anything special about UCLA. I wouldn’t mind if we play the other PAC 12 teams a little more. Maybe more of Stanford, Utah, UW, ASU and Cal. The reason I want to see more of these teams because it will give me an excuse to go there. ;-) I have relatives and friends in all those places and what better trip then to see families and watch good volleyball. Well we have the connection to Sealy with Shoji so it was understandable to have that matchup year after year. But i would also like to see a lot more PAC12 schools on the schedule, heck i would like to see Hawaii IN the PAC but i digress lol

So far the confirmed non conference matches are the following :
August 27-29 Rainbow Wahine Classic….TAMU, Marquette and Fairfield, Hawaii
Sept 3-4 Utah Classic…Utah, USD, CP, Hawaii
Sept 10-11 UH vs USC.
I think that is all the non conference opponents we can play because of the addition of UCSD and Bakersfield, we will be playing 20 conference matches. If that is the case, then the schedule is kind of set. We just don’t know who and when for conference.
In 2019, we played 28 NCAA regular season matches….29 if you count the Alumni match. If UH is holding an alumni match again this season, we can only play 1 more match to reach the NCAA maximum of 30 matches allowed.
I think this is a pretty good non conference schedule. Only Fairfield falls under the category of “not big name “ team. Everybody else are post season type teams.a

Fairfield can be considered a post season type team also. They have made the NCAA Tournament every year since 2015, only missing the NCAA Tournament in 2018. True though, they are not a real big name team.

This could turn out to be a pretty good pre-conference schedule, RPI wise.
Marquette - Big East TAMU - SEC Fairfiel - MAAC USD - WCC Utah - PAC12 USC - PAC12
TAMU could be the weakest of all these teams.

But Utah could be a significant victory, so it depends. Fairfield will help Hawaii's numerical RPI, but beating Utah would be helpful towards a seed/at-large if necessary. They have a lot of question marks, but Jankiewicz is very very good and they still have Dani Drews!

How nice of UCLA to cancel the series when we're on an upswing and look like we might be able to take a few matches from them again lol.

That is kind of a wild assumption. Maybe this coaching staff wants to play somebody else instead of playing the same team every year. Yeah we had a long-standing thing going but that doesn’t mean we have to continue on that path. I know I’m not crying about UCLA not coming here. They are nothing special IMHO. I will enjoying seeing USC and all their talent. Those two matches should be sell outs.

I guess I was expecting Utah to have an off season with who they lost, but I don’t know as much about them as I would like. You still think they’ll be a solid tournament team/top 50 win?
