How’s their setting situation looking? Losing Mia is not easy to recover from I didn't realize that Chavira is the only listed setter on the roster. I'll let bwf talk about their setting situation but that's a big deal if she ends up being the starter. I'd move Poly up to Big West Title contender over the Beach. Denecochea is a good setter, they have some veterans returning, and a young gun transfer. Didn't the Beach pick up a foreign setter?

Katarzyna Partyka from Poland. Beach also have some injuries on the pins that could hurt their depth. Look out for Erykah Lovett though. Kid has an arm and could develop into a solid 6-ro OH.

I think a Polish setter who played with Julia Orzol and was previously on the U20 Poland roster

LBSU has Chavira returning, the setter from Poland and a walk on combo OPP/S. The team will need above average setting to get the most out of their hitters. I am looking forward to the Polish setter since she has national team experience but LBSU has brought in other foreign players with this type of experience that were busts. If one of the setters steps up big LBSU can contend for a conference title.

Can you all stick to Hawaii and not the other teams?
I was hoping to hear that the schedule was released or the roster updated or about the fans being allowed to attend the matches at the SSC.

Same thing happens in the Stanford thread. Other league teams' fanatics go off-topic to derail convos from SU to their teams...then they pile on/feign innocence . The most recent BW conference thread is on p.7 of the board's menu (May 30th). All P-12 teams have their own threads; some have two. Envy is a terrible thing .

I Can’t see this losing out on an entire season of play being good for head to head decisions when it comes to who gets into post season play, so a strong Big West SHOULD be important to Hawaii fans, some people don’t realize that lol

The Hawai'i thread tends to become a Big West thread writ large, when a current dedicated BW thread isn't up.

Are UH Wahines already practicing for next month? And is all the players on Island, besides Martyna from Poland?

I'll make a fall thread.

She makes them better but I don’t think that moves the dial much with Maja out for the season. I think the Beach is Hawaii’s biggest threat in the Big West. How’s their setting situation looking? Losing Mia is not easy to recover from I'm not worry about their setting. If Chavira is healthy, they will be just fine. Mia would've been a great addition, they were looking at Chavira as a hitter, she is a very talented player that can set and hit. But with the players coming in for the Beach, Chavira will now have to focus mainly on just running the offense.

According to the Big West thread, Chavira likely won’t be more than a backup setter if not a hitter full time. Beach brought in an international setter, i believe a Polish National like Martyna.

The player I want to see the most is Westerberg. I think she would do well as an Opp, who can run the slide like McNeal from Texas.
Mia will be fun to watch too. Hawaii for sure has options, and well just have to wait and see how they work out.
