Why would Demirtas not come? She knew how many OPPs were coming in when she committed. It’s not like she was caught off guard with the addition of other players. I don’t get the sense that Europeans are afraid to compete. For them, it’s a chance to get a free education and play volleyball. Not sure they have college volleyball in some countries. I think it's less that they're scared to compete and more that I think a lot of times with foreign recruits they have the option to go pro and make money. |

Yea it was more this than anything but I’m hoping she comes and has a great career at UH. I just see players like the Italian girl at Texas leave who could eventually have made an impact anywhere else in the country and then thinking back on Helvig, it’s really a roll of the dice sometimes with foreign players. Pretty sure there was a time the men were unsure about Thelle at a point but that was in the more uncertain times of the pandemic. I just hope none of the foreign girls are dealing with any visa issues. |

On the bright side, BVS is back. She was an inconsistent offense in 2019, but she was the glue. I remember they took her out of the line up and everything fell apart. |

she had 20 kills against their 18 BLUE team not their BLACK team. Still impressive. TAV and Texas are deep. Also take into account that she was only a sophomore, maybe 17 years old, at the time and her native of Northern CA isn't well known for volleyball competition |

Not to say she isn’t a good player, but 20 kills against a blue team isn’t a super big indicator of her talent in college |
