Right now, according to my count, the Wahine are at their limit of scholarships allowed (12), for the 2021 season.
Incoming Freshmen, on scholarship (4):
Annika de Goede Mia Johnson Martyna Leoniak Tayli Ikenaga
Underclassmen returning, on scholarship (8):
Amber Igiede Riley Wagoner Kaylee Glagau Kate Lang Tiffany Westerberg Braelyn Akana Mylana Byrd Anna Kiraly
Seniors returning, not counted toward scholarship count (3):
Brooke van Sickle Skyler Williams Jolie Rasmussen (?)
So the only transfers available to the Wahine are those that are replaying their Senior year, per NCAA Covid rules, where they will not count toward the scholarship count allowed.

Transfers do not get the scholarship exemption. Scholarships for covid seniors that transfer count against the 12 team scholarships.

We actually don't know if Glagau will be on an indoor scholarship. Ikenaga probably isn't on scholarship given the wording in the UH announcement. If Hawaii can land impact transfers like Diouf and Kinley then might as well use up the scholarships.

Guewe would be the better get, 4 years of eligibility with national team experience and elite athleticism. You take that any day without question. And we can slot BVS, Wagner, Ikenaga at libero.

If Glagau is on a Beach Volleyball scholarship, from my understanding she cannot play indoor for at least two years, or am I wrong. Also, in Ikenaga's announcement it says that she is signed, which would mean that she is on scholarship.

I really don’t think Tayli is on scholarship. You don’t give a scholarship for someone who is not a polished libero. Scholarship could be better use for a hitter or MB. She will have a chance to earn one but to give one to someone who was not even heavily recruited?
Maybe someone like Elena Oglivie deserve one.

Hawaii has had its fortune of having walk on libero's from here stay and end up starting ie: Ashley Watanabe & Jayme Lee. Maybe Tayli can get to that point with hard work

Also, in Ikenaga's announcement it says that she is signed, which would mean that she is on scholarship. You're probably wrong on both counts. Cindy Luis previously wrote that Glagau re-signed an NLI for indoor scholarship money for spring 2021. We don't know if she will be on an indoor scholarship for Fall 2021. See Cindy here www.cindyluis.com/2020/11/10/welcome-kaylee-glagau-to-wahine-indoor-nli-on-wedneday/The UH release did write about Ikenaga "signing". The release referred to Ikenaga as an "addition". The graphic shows a picture of Ikenaga as "signed". Siena Springborn also had the same graphic but the graphic was updated to "committed" later on. The "signed" graphic may have been an error. See release here hawaiiathletics.com/news/2021/1/21/wahine-add-ikenaga-to-2021-roster.aspx

i'm sure you all share my sentiments, but the cancellation of this season is going to show for years to come. washington's final four team is mostly coming back, and texas basically will have 2 seasons of experience over the bows current squad. this freshmen class was impressive - iosia, londot, robinson, etc got a 'free' year of experience playing on the big stage that will only help these programs. the off-season for many is short while the bows off-season will be almost a year and a half. i'm a bit deflated knowing that the bows were ramping up to greatness only to have this major setback.
anyway, i feel like there's always a chip on the bows shoulder and it's what makes them play their best. excited to see the grit, heart, and soul this fall. go bows!

Yes, the Big West shot themselves in the foot. Also wanted to add that some good potential recruits lost interest in Hawaii after the cancellation.

Let’s hope they were at least allowed ample gym time to gel amongst each other. Hopefully the Freshman recruits are able to get to the islands sooner or later. That’s going to be a nice group to watch develop with each other. Especially basically adding 2 recruiting classes together for one big freshman class.
