VOLLEYBALLTM, I truly appreciate what you're saying and I would never disparage or unfairly criticize any of these student athletes. They are special kids with special talents. I know they work extremely hard on and off the courts. They deserve all our respect. Anything I post is what I see and an honest attempt to evaluate and assess fairly and objectively. It's never meant to hurt or personally attack the players. I posted that down the stretch the twins were struggling. That doesn't mean they weren't winning, it just means they weren't as dominant in the latter part of the season, especially against the bruin pair they beat three times earlier in the season. You've now admitted that one was sick. So I wasn't wrong. I just didn't know why they were not as dominant in the latter part of the season. Frankly, I thought it was an injury that was not disclosed. But i knew something was wrong, and now you have told me that at least part of it could be to one being sick. It's tough to be a parent of these student athletes and read posts on message boards that criticize your child. But that comes with the territory when you play a sport that is in the public eye. No one wants to read criticism on their child, but as long as it is fair and absence of malice and contempt, then you should accept it as constructive criticism Completely unfair criticism to the twins and many other athletes. Did you play D1 sports? I did and so did my husband, at big schools. SO we know what it takes. What are your qualifications to make these disparaging comments about these young female players (my twins were far from the worst) and why are you spending so much time on this website, maybe you and bvbfanatic should get your sh*t together?!

I did not play D1 sports and your girls could run circles around me on a volleyball court. All i am offering is an innocuous and honest opinion based on what I see and 50 years of watching beach volleyball. If you think my observations and opinions are less valid than what you can offer, because you played D1 sports, then fine, that's your opinion. But I am free to come here and express my opinion, whether you or most of the people who read my posts disagree. You, more than anyone, seem to be the most upset with the criticism; which is understandable, because you're their mother. But your opinion, when it comes to the Nourse twins, is going to be the most biased and least objective here - not mine. In the future, for your own edification, whether you agree or disagree with what I post, it is never intended to be mean-spirited or malicious. I have a great amount of respect for this SC team, especially your girls and the dedication and commitment they make to SC Beach Volleyball. But that does not mean that they cannot be judged fairly.

Family members should stay away from these sites unless they have a thick skin.
The "defense" of their student-athlete rarely delivers the desired result.

Volleyball players get off easy compared to football players and mens basketball players on online forums.

I saw the post by Joy Dennis in her Instagram and that was really uncool that she felt she had to post that, it was hurtful to her obviously. Agree, Nourse twins mom, many of these comments are uncalled for and I see that you are writing this not really for your girls but for the other athletes. I have met you and I am pretty certain that you have thick skin. Your daughters played very good volleyball this year and I was surprised they were in the 5 along so was everyone else, but it was also obvious that they were coming off or still had some kind of injury. I agree, why would you ever tell the twins to get their sh*t together? It is understandable if an athlete in the public or on video does something that is hurtful or acts inappropriate, but the comments about Joy and some of these other players are un-called for especially from people who really don't know the right info or the real info. The judgements are not fair and usually incorrect by many of these people.

I think we had this on the VolleyballMag.com Instagram, but thought you would appreciate it here. Caught up with these players Friday at the AVP Next in New Orleans:

KBALLER9 --- Just to be clear and for the record. I was not the poster who wrote "the Nourse twins need to get their %*$# together." That was another poster. All I stated was that the twins were struggling down the stretch. Mrs. Nourse took exception to that observation and called it "completely unfair criticism." It was actually an observation that was spot on. The twins, for whatever reason, unbeknownst to me, did not peak at the end of the season and were not playing their best volleyball - certainly, as the scores in their matches show, not as well as in the beginning and middle of the season. It's certainly not unfair criticism if my observation did not in any way imply that their performance was from any lack of effort or desire.

Have to mention that another Trojan pair, vets Urango/Fonoimoana made it to the quarterfinals as well. Dennis and Kremer, not playing together, didn’t get as far after advancing out of the pools. Also, here’s a nice local SD article about Megan Kraft. Glad UCLA hasn’t gotten all the Torrey Pines star athletes. www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/high-school-preps/story/2021-05-25/torrey-pines-megan-kraft-thriving-outdoors-at-uscWith respect to some of the mothers coming here and getting defensive, I can’t blame them for feeling that way. Too bad they seem to ignore all the positive comments. At the same time, VolleyTalk posters have the right to express their opinions, good or bad, founded or unfounded, since this is a public forum.

That's a tough question. There is room for three spots among the 5 starting pairs, provided the rumored transfers of Villapondo and Schaefer do not occur. I would think that with Graudina gone and no transfers SC will move Bakos, Bennett and one another freshman into the starting lineup. Ebertin, Hallgren and Cummings may be looking to transfer after the fall if they can see that the incoming freshmen are better and likely to grab a spot ahead of them. Blanton has some tough decisions to make. Any player who does not make the starting 5, especially the freshman, might be better off redshirting, because after next season, SC will lose Harward, Scoles and Slater. A lot of spots will open up. Bennet seems to me the most talented among this next group coming in, but I don't see any of this class starting. If it's three openings, Bakos, Hallgren, and Ebertin would be my prediction. The U19 USAV Championshps are going on in Huntington beach June 22nd and a several future Trojans are playing besides Maple/Kraft. You have Rusich/Kirunchyk, Bennet and 2022's Bailey Showalter, Mabyn Thomas, and Delaney Karl. I actually think Thomas, Karl, and Bennet have a shot at 2nd place which would earn them a trip to Thailand for the World U19 Championships.

Were you able to see an entry list for the USAV U19? I thought there was talk that USC commit Gabby Walker and UCLA commit Maggie Boyd were the top pair in the 2022 class. Will be interesting if the 2022 players set up new pairs based on college commitments.

UCLA commits as well, but just a handful of last season's freshman like Maple/Kraft. Walker/Boyd are likely the top rated "team" in the 2022 class, but I didnt see them listed. Individually, I'd rate them in the top ten. Along w Karl, Thomas, Showalter, Standage. But I havent seen some of these players in about a year, so I'm sure I've missed the latest and greatest.

USC Beach posted something for Tina Graudina earlier today and it was referring to her as a senior so maybe she isn't done just yet?
