Trying to pick through the SWAC first. From the schedules posted it looks like teams are looking to increase their competition this year by playing more Power 5 programs. Jackson State has Auburn and Mississippi State on the schedule, Alabama A&M has Cal and Indiana, Alabama State hasn't posted yet. It would be great to see a win or two from that bunch. Florida A&M and Bethune Cookman are joining the conference and will look forward to the pre-season poll to see how much respect the new programs receive. They should be in the mix this year as the top half of the conference should be improved. Anyone with knowledge of any big recruits coming into the conference this year? other than the Woodard sisters, no. Was hoping to have more big recruits join. I’ll take a look at some rosters and report back. Howard's freshmen this year will be something to watch for sure. Outside of the Woodard twins, they've also added Colleen Temple (decommitted from Hawaii to attend Howard) and a few key recruits on the pins and the setting position that were being sought by other notable programs. #BounceBack

Temple. Forgot about her.

Okay, let's try the MEAC. Their preseason poll has Coppin State selected to win, with Howard and Delaware State just behind. Coppin State has three of the seven players selected to the all-preseason team, Delaware state has two. Surprisingly these three schools don't play similar opponents in the preseason for comparison. Howard has the toughest schedule with Oregon, Duke, West Virginia, and Maryland on their schedule along with some other good mid-majors.
Coppin State has most of their team returning from last years upstart team. Should be a lot of internal growth. They have added the sister of their star outside (Coleman) and a 6'6" RS transfer from Hofstra which should make this team much more physical.
Delaware State returns almost all of their team too and adds JUCO All-American Karen Cordero to the lineup. A team heavy in Puerto Rican talent.
Howard brought in eight new players and added a lot of size. We will see if their freshmen can mesh with the talent already on the roster and produce while young.
Morgan State also needs to be mentioned as they added a pair of transfers in Justyus Jackson (Tulsa) and Mackenzie Jefferson (Hoftra).
How do we see this playing out? Going to be some good games at the top.

I also think that Coppin State will work through non-conference easily, so they will be very confident and have something to say about the championship.
If Howard makes it through the first weekend unscathed, the Duke tournament will be a good test to see if they can compete with those bigger schools. I'm not sure what to expect from Duke, Miami, and Charleston, but they all have been solid programs. Any ideas on what the line-up will look like?

I think the Woodards and C. Temple will be in the starting mix.

Now to the others.
North Carolina A&T and Hampton are both in the Big South. I don't think anyone knows what Hampton looks like right now, but NCAT is a team full of 5th year players playing their Covid year. They should be competitive in the middle of the conference moving forward, but this is a big year for them with so many seniors.
Tennessee State is in the OVC and not ranked highly in the pre-season poll. I don't know much about this team so any help would be appreciated. They have a light pre-season schedule so they may be able to develop confidence early and surprise some in conference.

This is huge! She has a live and terminal arm and brings in the ability to immediately contribute as a 6 rotation OH. She's the reigning Alabama Gatorade POY so I'd assume she could repeat. The sky is no limit for HU.

Definitely will be a 6-2 I'd predict: OH K WilliamsOH B WoodardMB T WellsMB C WoodardOPP J BoldenOPP C TempleS M CardonaS K DiazL A PattersonThey'll need some size and termination on that left pin so I'm sure he'll shuffle the deck there until he can find someone to generate some offense from out there. Also shuffle in a couple DS for the OHs if they can't play all the way around.
