This thread died out quickly last year. Let's give it a try again. Anyone interested in doing some team previews with me?

How would you rank them going into the season?

How would you rank them going into the season? That's really hard, but I did it in another thread. I'd like to look in depth at the teams before this is official but I will give it a shot and would love to talk about it with others. 1. Howard 2. FAMU 3. Delaware St. 4. Coppin St. 5. Jackson St. 6. Alabama St. Beyond that I would just be guessing. I guess I need to do more research myself. I think these top teams will take a big step forward this year and surprise some with their out of conference performance.

I haven't seen them lately but usually see a few of the swac schools each year and haven't really heard their name in quite a few years.

Well they won the SWAC regular season title last year with only one loss and added a nice piece in Morghan Chambers from UCF. Not sure what they are going to look like completely, but seems like they are on the upswing. I also realized I didn't put NCAT in this group, they should finish somewhere in the middle of this group. They graduated almost everyone so I'd have to do an in depth dive to figure out what to expect as a line up next year.

I have always been disappointed in that I don’t really see these teams except in pre-season or post-season. I wish ESPN would at least do deals for ESPN3. Makes it hard for me to keep up.

Does ESPN pay schools for the games/matches that get put on ESPN+/ESPN3 or does the schools pay ESPN for their streaming platform services? This is in reference to the sports/schools that don't exactly bring in the views/ratings that would move the needle to any noticeable degree

I think the universities pay for the talent and production.

I think the universities pay for the talent and production. I get that feeling too. I was wondering more about which way the "deal" with ESPN went. ESPN paying the school/conference for "content" or the school/conference paying ESPN for providing the streaming platform. or is it a zero sum exchange, with the school/conference benefiting via their fans being able to see their contests (especially road games) while ESPN benefits from those that buy ESPN+ subscriptions or whose cable/sat/internet providers pay for ESPN3 access
