I feel bad for Purdue, specially today to be that close but can’t finish it out has to be demoralizing

Purdue looks so good at times. But then their youth shows sometimes too. Hopefully this weekend helps them grow and they will only get better. I am very pleased with Trammell. She has been fearless. the funny thing is that they're both still kind of young and also not really that young (starters were six upperclass players and Trammell), a side effect from the largest roster I can recall them having in 10 years. Even larger next year too, unless folks transfer out - even if both seniors leave (I would expect Otec back, Newton would depend on what offers she could get overseas - I'm not clear on how that works re: eligibility in VB), they'd still be netting +2 players if no one transfers. It's nice to have a roster that actually allows for subs beyond the standard ones ... and to get to a point where you don't have to have a volunteer assistant who just happens to be an alumna who can practice with you. (Val's probably in Dallas now, preparing for the AU season.)
Nice win by Minnesota, again. Disappointing, but going in I figured UM would win both and they did. Taking the Gophers to five sets twice is an improvement in general - we know they've pulled the upset before but back-to-backs are so hard. Hoping they can close out some of these matches, though. There aren't that many at-large spots this season and I wouldn't count on the Big Tenteen getting 7-8 teams in.

Interesting to catch up on this board after watching the rest of the match. There are a couple of Debbie Downers on this board. Funny to see the negative griping as they root for the Gophers. Pretty classic Minnesota sports fan.

Boilers could end up with quite a break, barring a schedule adjustment. Next two weeks are Michigan and Northwestern - UM still doesn't have their outbreak under control (although VB may no longer be affected, I haven't seen) and Northwestern has now missed three straight weeks.

I think I’ll be moving Purdue up in my top 25 ballot even though they lost twice this weekend. They look good, just couldn’t quite close either match out

I think I have a new second-favorite team in the league. I don't think many teams could leave West Lafayette with two wins. (Hot Tattooed Assistant also is an asset.)

Before I read the latest in this thread:
1) Feel bad for Purdue. They deserved at least one win for the weekend. 2) Volleyball is funny. Sometimes it's all about which team is keeping the ball off the floor and then it's all about which team is putting it to the floor. And they aren't the same thing. 3) Kilkelly and Wenaas really stepped up this weekend. Rubright too. 4) Samedy was more like 2019 Steph today, but came through big at the end. 5) I liked the moving parts in the lineup. It helped.
Purdue plays some damned good defense.

sometimes it takes a year or two to muster the courage to tell someone how your last name is actually pronounced I did high school PA this year. In the 4th home match someone finally told me I had been pronouncing a last name incorrectly.

4) Samedy was more like 2019 Steph today, but came through big at the end. Will she ever outlive this inaccurate characterization from you or no
