Cleveland wasn’t there. But right now Wisconsin is that good. Hoping Minnesota can close the gap as the year goes. Does anyone really believe that Illinois is better than Purdue, right now? I don't. So, I don't see the results as anywhere near comparable. The problem is we don't REALLY know how good the Gophers are. What if they aren't actually a top 10 team and Purdue just lost to them twice at home? I thought Purdue looked good, too. But the sample size is really, really small. |

Just using the eye test, it seems most people believe both Minn and Purdue should be top 10. Wisc crushed Purdue, but they weren't the same, and then they didn't look so hot against Illinois, and most people probably put Purdue ahead of Illinois.
So .... yeah. Like you said, more data needed.

Who is the PA announcer for Purdue? He sounds like the way that little kids would imagine the devil to sound (and I secretly love it!). I could be wrong, but I don't think it's their regular guy. I listened to a bit of each broadcast again, and he doesn't seem to have the same announcing quirks that the normal guy does.
In past seasons, there would be occasions where a backup would work a match or two. This might just be that, I dunno.
I like your comparison, though! This guy does have that kind of voice.
I think that Purdue Mens Basketball had a home game during the volleyball rematch. The first match was announced by the regular announcer, but I believe the back up announcer was the second one. |
