Oh wow, she would have filled a huge gap at Utah. She'd be starting at Nebraska, Do you think she’d start over Caffrey?

Iman Ndiaye decommitted and went to UCLA. She doesn’t play outside never has. She was a middle right side for TAV That isn’t true. During Iman’s Junior year, she played Outside for high school volleyball team. Last spring her club team moved her to outside due to Weenas being ill as well as Williams being out with a torn ACL.

She'd be starting at Nebraska, Do you think she’d start over Caffrey? Yes. Her serve is an absolute weapon. She is a great blocker and her offense is good as well. Credit Hames enters the discussion but her serve+blocking is an upgrade.

On point. I don’t understand how PENN STATE does have a squadron of outstanding outsides. I don’t know why Clark was subbed out she was doing good and her serve was giving Minnesota problems... She somehow missed her blocking assignment on **Stephanie Samedy** several times in a row, even jumping with Minny's back row setter. But I agree. She was at least doing something positive for Penn State... the same cannot be said for tall Rutgers girl.

Hopefully they hire some new referees for Sunday's game. This was one of the worst refereed games I have seen in years and I watch a ton. I used to think the Big 10 supposedly hired the best refs in the country. Now I'm questioning why they put these bozos on such a big game!

On Halloween in 2018 Rettke had 30 kills in Madison vs. MN MN won the match 3-1
When a setter is connected to a high flying RS beast they are going to get their kills. Whining about inadequate blocking doesn't cut it.
The Gophers could not seem to front Gray or Hord hardly at all in the first 3 sets K E At 11 - 1 - 24 11 - 5 - 23
Pittman & Rubright 10 - 2 19 6 - 4 20
Finally, at the end of the night, Shaff & Regan connected on 2 slides and Pittman blocked Gray twice f Landfair, IIRC, had only 6 kills through the first 3 sets, but had 5 in the third and her % popped from .100 to .250. She missed a number of line shots, but I LIKE the tactic. She is one exciting recruit, seems to keep her emotions in check and doesn't throttle back too much when things aren't clicking.
I'd like a PSU fan to give me Parker's stats vs the B1G compared to stats vs MN.
Rubright's inexperience at this level was pretty evident. It's hard to set your block when your opponent's MB is so active. I'm sure the game is faster. Determining where the setter will be receiving the pass, what options she will have for the second contact and where the third contact will be made requires experience.
The MN middle attack is doesn't even qualify as a work in progress yet. There were a couple of glimmers though.
I continue to be impressed with our attack mentality. Playing for the opponent to make the first mistake, playing not to lose the point, is not a winning recipe against elite teams and the B1G has a number of them.
otoh, four aces and eight SEs is not a good stat. Seemed like our serving got throttled back and MN's opponents so far, have had higher service reception grades all year. I have no idea what their side out percentage is when you aren't putting pressure on the opponents, but I'm sure we could dial it up a bit.
Caveat... haven't rewatched so I could be off base on some of these impressions.
Areas for improvement: More quicks for the MBs. Get that connected Tips: Gopher opponents always seem to tip better and cover our tips better Grease the slide... there were signs of more cylinders firing
The Gophers could become SCARY GOOD. The lack of a pre-season is allowing us to see the work in progress magnified and it is a BLAST to be a fan this year. If we could only get back in the stands... I get my first shot next week.
What exactly is the rule re a back row setter in front of the 10' line. I thought as long as they are not in the air they're good.

Landfair had a nice run in set 4, when she had 4 kills from 14-11 to 18-15. Needed to get that from her, after a quiet first 3 sets.
Really loved how the match ended with 2 straight Pittman kills, followed by 2 straight Pittman blocks.
Rollins was a little off tonight it seemed.

To answer your last question: The rule is that the ball cannot be 100% above the plane of the net if the back row player is attacking from in front of the attack line. The common misconception is that the rule is about whether the back row player jumps in front of the line but jumping in and of itself is actually irrelevant. The location of the ball relative to the top of the net is what matters.

Would really like to see Flowers on the right for Penn State. She was Memphis’s main attacker last year. Plus, she brings a tough serve. Plus who doesn’t want to see Blossom to Flowers?

Volleyball #5 Minnesota vs #8 Penn State Feb 13 (Sat) 7:00 PM CT / 8:00PM ET
and Feb 14 (Sun) 6:30 PM /7:30 PM ET
Maturi Pavilion Minneapolis MN TV: B1G 10 Network
Could you do a new thread for the Sunday game? This thread is already at 30 pages.
It's going to be hard to reference both games if you have to go through 50-60 pages. Thanks.
