I want a season relatively free of injuries. These last two seasons have been tough. I also want them to beat teams they should beat -- Oregon, Creighton (yes they did win) and Pittsburgh, to name three. This year's team had too many letdowns after taking a set. Not sure what that was about. That's interesting, about letdowns after taking a set. I had a different impression: I got the feeling they played almost like they thought they could turn it on at any time. In each of the regular season's four five-set matches, they were down 3-2, before rallying to win, sometimes dominating in the 5th. And you can only tempt fate so many times before it bites you.

They have been building a good program there. Of course they have. And lately so has Kentucky. That doesn't make them more deserving to cut in line before us.

I always looked at the situation from her perspective. One place doesn't want me as a BRO and another place does. Yeah she Favred the Gophers but maybe they should have allowed her to wear the jersey. In any case it has developed into her playing in a National championship and maybe a shot at one more. Good for her, too bad for us. I honestly think she would have had a fair shot at libero here. We have no idea what happened exactly. At least, I don't. I think CC was penned in for the Libero spot with very little chance of that being taken away. Do I know this for sure? No, no I don't. I have heard that Hugh likes to play the athletes with scholarships, although Jasmyn might have been the exception to that rule.

Well, you did say open hand and he said "overhand". The one from Pitt (don't remember if it was in the 5th, at this point) was just pathetic. It was a basketball slam dunk. Lame as hell that it wasn't called. so, you really like the game back in the 80's. Do you like throws? Do you like trying to defend a throw? I can't stand it.

Maybe she didn't feel sure they'd keep giving her one. I think they would have worked something out. Fact is, she knew she could be the starting libero elsewhere. But she still decided to play behind Clark. Is there any reason to believe she didn't just want to be closer to home? Anyhow, I have been told she would have competed for the position. As would have Martin, Nielsen and the two others who left -- the OH who went to Arizona and the OH who went to South Carolina. I'm old. The names are slipping my mind. I don't think I was lied to. Now, whether THEY believed that was true is something only they can speak to. Barnes is the only one who I really wish had stayed. CC has been very inconsistent these last two years. I think Barnes would have replaced her. I also think CC's injuries have had a lot to do with her inconsistency. Hoping the next season (or two) will see her shine.

No cuts back or budging as Minnesotans like to say. The Gophers had GREAT chances to win a NC and didn't get it done. And I'm not even counting 2019 and this year. SSS was their ticket to one and they let it expire.

As long as currently less deserving programs than Minnesota (e.g. Wisconsin, Kentucky) don't get a natty before we do, then such things can rightly be dismissed as jealous bridesmaid snickering. That makes Texas my team.
Not sure what makes Wisconsin less deserving other than being Wisconsin. 1) As you note, they are Wisconsin. 2) They are not Minnesota. I don’t know how it can be stated more plainly than that! (My personal objection to less-deserving Wisconsin winning their first Natty before us, though, is outweighed by my irrational dislike of Texas, and my entirely rational disapproval of all things PAC12. I could live with either Wisconsin or Kentucky winning it all.)

Then she should've never came to Minnesota in the first place. I will still hold her lack of loyalty, to spit in our faces and go to our rival, against her. Particularly considering .... CC has been very inconsistent these last two years. I think Barnes would have replaced her. I also think CC's injuries have had a lot to do with her inconsistency. Hoping the next season (or two) will see her shine. Yep, I'm sure a lot would agree with this.

By the way, we have 12 scholarships every year, right? Are there really that many players who actually have a chance of contributing on the court each year who don't have a scholarship?
I have a hard time believing many are like that.

The 2018 transfers all appeared to be in the same friend group. I wouldn't be surprised if that caused some domino effect. I thought Barnes would've been nice for Washington or Illinois, but she was already good friends with Clark and Rettke. So if there were any tie-breakers, I could see why Wisconsin won out. I probably would've been more pissed if she went to Nebraska Also, idk who went to Arizona (must've missed it), but McClean went to SoCar and was a cog in the almost upset of Florida. Now it'd be nice if Mari Hinkle came home. I don't know much about her, but I recall you are quite familiar with her in club, and Kilkelly played behind her as DS. DS depth is so thin anyway right now.

I have a hard time believing many are like that. I'm not sure what you are asking here, but the answer is yes. This is a problem unique to elite programs. You end up with more talent than you can possibly use and YOU STILL NEED ROLE PLAYERS. How do you convince good ones to join without scholarship?

Hinkle was a VERY good JO libero. The fact Kilkelly played DS is proof of that.
McLean didn't light up the SEC. The Arizona transfer was Kalei Mau.
Hauer was another transfer btw. Remember Kleinman? I wonder how her career went.

Kleinman had 354 kills in 2019. Injured this season?
