 Minnesota Volleyball Fall 2021Sad to say but we have to look forward to next season. Good news, it's only 4 months away. BTW, I will do a better job than below but I am a little sad for the early end of the season.

Have some wine! Or beer! Or a little mixer! Whatever your poison is! A loss is always disappointing but this was, relatively speaking, a very young team. All three freshman played huge roles. The green showed, so it's time to grow.
Positives from Spring 2021:
- Shaff starting to show a connection with the middle, though ideally it would've come in a little~ sooner
- Samedy shut up the doubters and established herself as the QUEEN she is
- Wenaas stepped in as a solid DS and even libero at times, with some BR attacks to boot
- Landfair is getting more aggressive and apparently has a nice serve?!
- ROLLINS IS MAGICAL IN THE TOURNAMENT AND IS SO ACADEMICALLY BUFF YOU LOVE TO SEE IT
- Pittman, though offensively nerfed for majority of the season, was a steady senior leader that brought some excellent blocking
The frosh ought to be proud of themselves. There's much to improve on, but they've carried a big load. They can only get better at carrying it going forward. My concerns are on the defensive end. How is CC's health? Her knee is implied to be busted. The DS/L position is thin. Which seniors move on (no matter who does, us plebs can only be happy for them and their current accomplishments)? Where will the incoming freshmen fit in?
While on paper this season is a "disappointment", I think it was pretty good all things considered. Pitt is good and was due to have its redemption arc sooner rather than later. There were glimpses of brilliance paired with moments of understandable doubt. This 2021 Spring team had a very high ceiling while having a comparatively low floor. Very tangible things can be ironed out, and hopefully they will!

Wenaas is the wildcard for this fall. Assuming Samedy does not come back, I wonder if there is any thought to moving Landfair to right side. I don't see how you can put the #3 recruit in the country back for a second season as a defensive specialist. Something has to give.

I really think Hugh oughta finally adopt a tougher serving strategy for once next year. If not, their margin for error in big matches is going to continue to be extremely thin.
Beyond that, there will be lots of great pieces still. Would like to see Wenaas get a chance to play front row, and I think that's going to be crucial in keeping her around. If Pittman leaves, gotta think a portal move should be in order to grab an impact middle... probably a DS too.

How good is Wolf? Would she be higher on the depth chart then either Husemann or Rubright? And was Katie Myers on the bench during the tournament? I don’t recall seeing her

Are incoming freshmen Gray or Glenn expected to compete for front row play or were they recruited for ball control? Just asking, as both are undersized. It would seem a tough hill to climb to earn front row time, with Rollins, Landfair, and Wenaas already there.
