Are we talking about the mass exodus? That happened a few years back.

I also want them to beat teams they should beat -- Oregon, Creighton (yes they did win) and Pittsburgh, to name three. This year's team had too many letdowns after taking a set. Not sure what that was about. Indeed very disappointing.
Something has to change, or there is no reason to expect that the results will change. (not advocating people fired, I'm saying do something different)

Gosh, if we could just stop these mass exoduses of players, and develop some kind of semblance of volleyball culture, maybe someday Gopher Volleyball can win "something"

No idea about this fall/spring (ie, this school year), especially with how distanced and virtual things have been, but I think it was "common knowledge" among those in the know that there were problems with the chemistry between different groups/cliques of players on the team, in the couple years before?
At least, that is what I kept hearing?

You know, it's really not that easy to win a national championship for the first time. It's happened once this century-Washington in 2005. Although, it could very well happen this year.
Clearly, Gopher fans are waiting for that to happen for the Gophers. Sure, everyone go ahead and try to dissect why it hasn't happened yet for Hugh's Gophers. He can't develop a passing game? He only plays his starters and refuses to use his bench? They don't peak at the right time? He let Lauren Barnes transfer.....lol. Who the F knows? Maybe the magic just hasn't come together at the right time yet, or come together for a season yet. OK, maybe Hugh doesn't really have it. The evidence for that at this point is far from certain.
But the overreactions can really seem bizarre at times.

Why is it so easy to tip against Minnesota? Seems like all the other good programs have it figured out?
Is this a failing of Hugh, or not?

Actually, the "off speed shot" is how Florida got back in the match against Wisconsin yesterday so - the others don't have it all figured out. The problem is we only pay attention to our own teams. Minnesota is very good at scoring with the off speed shot as well. I do remember, though, that Goehner was exceptional at reading that tip and covering. It was somewhat frustrating when they went to having the OH cover the tip when she was still here.

Ashburn wouldn’t transfer here. I think Wisconsin has a much better volleyball culture than Minnesota right now. MN shined 2015-16 and 2018, but never fully lived up to expectations. If you're not a player or staff, you have no idea what that culture is like. So maybe STFU. It was an observation. As a fan of both teams. It’s pretty obvious which has better energy and unity on the court. And it’s a public forum. So maybe grow the !!!!###$$$!!! up.

I always kept hearing and thought Hugh wants to run a fast paced offense. We are no longer doing that. Our game against Pitt was like in slo mo. Really really really hard to watch. If he still wants that type of offense, IMO he needs to find the answers to several positions on this current roster.
Hugh also has many injured players on the bench. He very seldom used Miyabe and McMen this year. Miyabe has graduated and McMen returns as a Senior. Also, by not starting McMen nor Nielsen, I am going to assume that is why he brought Miller in. Outside of her injury, Miller had a great last season for us. I now wonder, if Shaffmaster has that physicality Hugh is looking for in his starting setter. It was apparent she struggled with our OOS volleyball all season.
So, does Hugh continue with a fast paced offense or not? Is it a realistic option with this present team? If he doesn't transfer the experience needed to accomplish this then where will it come from? Right now it doen't appear these needed players are on the present bench. Of course everything I just said or asked is all based on Samedy and Pittman NOT RETURNING. Only Rollins, CC and McMen bring back the most experience. The underclassmen will all be developing their game.

I maintain that if you are not in the gym everyday, then you do not know what the culture is. To just throw it out there that they have a bad culture is irresponsible. What EXACTLY are you seeing that leads you to the conclusion that they have a bad culture? Just because Landfair hardly smiles? Please point out specific examples.

Is it just me or will Landfair be the best OH in the B1G next year, by a decent margin?
