It was an observation. As a fan of both teams. It’s pretty obvious which has better energy and unity on the court. And it’s a public forum. So maybe grow the !!!!###$$$!!! up. I maintain that if you are not in the gym everyday, then you do not know what the culture is. To just throw it out there that they have a bad culture is irresponsible. What EXACTLY are you seeing that leads you to the conclusion that they have a bad culture? Just because Landfair hardly smiles? Please point out specific examples. You’re making assumptions based on what I originally said. I never said Minnesota had a bad volleyball culture. I said I thought Wisconsin has a better one right now. Is that so extreme to say? It seems to have struck a nerve.

Wisconsin is playing better! This could be a chicken and egg phenomenon you are looking at.
Landfair is going to get better and she was pretty damned good this year. The question is whether she will be moved to the right. Maybe Wenaas could play there? I sure don't know.
If Samedy returns, who knows what happens.
I, for one, am not concerned about Shaffmaster. She isn't SSS. She is a different setter, with her own strengths and weaknesses. I don't know why people insist on focusing on her weaknesses.
I also wonder if Rollins comes back. What if she wants a different grad school? If she DOES come back, 2021 could be her best year by far.
I hope the middles develop. I have to wonder if Shea was fully recovered from her COVID (assuming she had it). No idea about Myers, but she's another possibility for major improvement.
I don't have a problem with the offense being pin-centric. But our middles need to block.

This is hard to do when your serving allows the opponent to effectively run every outlet in their offense. It just has to get tougher. If our middles have to play a guessing game off every service point, what can we expect from them? In-rally is a different story. On that note, clearly tip coverage/communication need to be a high priority this summer. In regards to your Landfair point above, I’m very excited for her future, be it on the right side or staying on the left. I think of how far Wilhite and Jordan Thompson came around from an offensive standpoint after their freshman years and I’ve gotta think sky is the limit there if she can figure out how to get comfortable taking swings out of system and refine when she opens her shoulders on that line shot a bit. If we’re choosing between 1 more year of Rollins or 3 years of Wenaas, I know what I want. Doesn’t necessarily come down to one or the other, but it very well could be for all we know. Lots to work on but things are still bright for the program. The sky is not falling 😁

I agree that the serving was inconsistently tough -- and mostly not. There is a fine line there, too, but I agree they are on the wrong side of that line way too often.
Landfair and Shaffmaster can serve tough. Kilkelly sometimes. Pittman too. But Samedy (especially) and Rollins (too often) just lob it over to the center of the court.
This tip coverage is overstated imo. The bigger problem, imo, is the Gophers' tips. They aren't effective.
And I will still argue that the Gophers will be lucky if Wenaas ends up being as good as Rollins is. I don't think wishing for that change now is wise. I do like Wenaas's passing and defense.

Adanna and Stephanie no longer follow each other on instagram. Could be nothing, I just thought this was surprising.

I know that Hugh has said before in an interview that he thinks the rules should be changed to disallow the ball to just be "poked over", and that at minimum you should have to make a roll shot.
So maybe they don't practice it or against it, at all, because he wants to wish it out of existence?

Was that it? I thought it was an open-handed tip?

So it means Samedy is leaving, Rollins is leaving, both, or neither?

Was that it? I thought it was an open-handed tip? I seem to specifically call him using the term "a pokey". If that means open handed tip, I'm not sure.
Should open handed tips be allowed in 6v6 court volleyball? I say it makes the game less enjoyable to watch, because it's a cheap, weak little way to score a point.

Not hard to find, with that word in the search. volleyballmag.com/mccutcheon-082919/Second of all, I think it would be interesting, in all volleyball, to eliminate overhand tip. Like beach, you have to roll it or you have to use a pokey, but you just don’t get to bail out with a tip over the top. I think you’ll have better rallies, it would force the athletes to make better decisions, but I don’t think the overhand tip helps the game very much.

So it means Samedy is leaving, Rollins is leaving, both, or neither? It was a small tidbit of information that, as the poster said, may mean nothing. We all, as individuals, are invited to add this to our little internal databases, and interpret for ourselves.

Bad idea.

Does the Instagram situation also let us know that, as far as the rumored cliques go, those two were not a part of the same clique?
