I get all the people mad that they can't get their season ticket locations .... but this is just reality folks. Big Ten programs maximize revenue, when they have the opportunities to do so. We should be thankful that our women's volleyball team is one of the few programs in the country that is actually a hot ticket! But revenue wise this weekend was going to sell lots of tickets regardless. What's wrong with allowing season ticket holders 24 hours to figure out the process and get their tickets? Also being a season ticket holder should come with a least a perk or two. First dibs on the seat you've had all season shouldn't be that big of a deal. Again, Its not the tickets - its the communication from the ticket office that doesn't explain the process so we are left with guessing. Its very frustrating. I know I might not get a great seat, I just want to know what I should do and when I can buy tickets. This would be frustrating if it were a hot ticket or not and good communication would hardly effect their revenue stream. I am thankful for having a good volleyball program; I'm not satisfied with the quality of work the ticket office is doing.

They need someone with proper English skills who can write instructions that say SPECIFICALLY how to manage the process &
how to order tickets with an absolute minimum of fuss. I spent two hours beg. at 11 a m today ordering tickets, only to learn some folks had been able to order last night. They seem oblivious that an older audience may have some money for tickets but also less than great computer skills.

It was only when I read the email I got for a second time and decided to try the link that I fully realized that I could buy them last night. It was more of a fluke than anything else. Looking at it now the language seems clear but if I'm not the only one who misread it, you have to wonder.

Also being a season ticket holder should come with a least a perk or two. First dibs on the seat you've had all season shouldn't be that big of a deal. There are 600 seats which *can’t* go to the person who has that seat normally, since we have to set aside seats for the three visiting teams. That has been true for the last 20 years. They’ve done various things (Ron Lynch used to go through and try to get everyone seats that were close to their season-ticket location, or at least a comparable view) over the years. A couple years ago, they were assigning blocks of time for people to go in, based on your Gopher score, and people complained that it was elitist (it was). Now all the season ticket holders are in the same group, and people are bitching that it *isn’t* elitist. The things they should have done (imho) which they didn’t are 1) Better and earlier communication about the matches, and the ticket-buying process 2) Limit people to the number of season tickets they have, with a *later* time for purchase of additional tickets before the general public (including high score non-VB folk) Ron spoiled us. It isn't elitist to allow your season ticket holders a reasonable time frame to purchase tickets near where they normally sit. Elitist is allowing people to purchase more tickets than they have for season because they have tickets to basketball or football. And, it doesn't help that they send the email from a system which most email servers read as "spam" or other.

But revenue wise this weekend was going to sell lots of tickets regardless. Not worth arguing about, but I can easily see where they're likely to sell more total by letting non-regulars or people with higher GS's buy up the most expensive tickets first, because they know the regulars still want to go and are then willing to "settle" for the lesser seats. Whereas, non-regulars would go with the best seats, but stay home with meh seats.
Just a thought anyway, no proof. And I'm not saying it is "fair", in the slightest.

I think it is laziness more than anything. Someone mentioned that the system may not be able to handle multiple levels. That could be it. But, I don't know why they couldn't send out an email last week to the season ticket holders to give them a heads up on what would happen. Or, better yet, allow season ticket holders to purchase the number of their season tickets held last week and then not run payments if MN didn't host. They have done that before. And, that was back when you had to fill out a form and fax it in. Seems that the more technology we have, the few options available. And, as I mentioned in another post, sending out emails such as this from a system which is read as spam or promotional so that it doesn't to someone's primary email box doesn't help. And, most email services have set ups to allow spam or promotional emails to be directed to a folder dedicated to junk emails. Had a similar situation this fall during homecoming and the email about parking was sent to my "promotions" box where it grouped with about 30 other emails received that day from solicitation emails. Communication is just not that good.

FWIW - I had heard general public tickets would be available Tuesday. Monday afternoon/evening, I saw a tweet from the Gopher Volleyball account that said tickets were available, so that's when I got mine (non season ticket holder).
I was pleasantly surprised at the price, considering they charged $30 for the premium matches this year. This was $25 for both sessions.

Out of curiosity, my DH checked to see what seats are left and he said very few, I think 6. So if you want a ticket get it right away or wait until Wednesday when they release some more tickets - probably returned from visiting teams. I think SD and IS will buy theirs but Stanford might not.

has anyone tried to go on the other teams sites to try to buy tickets? Just looked, and I can't find any of them offering tickets for sale. If they're making them available, presumably it's by email to their fans.

I may go to the early game and others in my party may not, so I hope to transfer When you view your tickets, there should be an option to transfer them. It’ll ask for a phone number or email to transfer them to. That phone/email will receive a message that you’ve initiated a transfer, and they have 24 hrs(?) to accept or reject it. (If they do nothing, it’s auto-rejected after the time limit). They will then have to save the tickets to their phone winto gPay or AppleWallet, as appropriate for their device. Or… you can get them printed out. Ticket office isn’t thrilled with it, apparently, but a friend got hers printed out ahead of time (office is at Mariucci I believe) by going down and saying she didn’t know if her phone could deal with it, and she didn’t want to try, and could they-please- just print them out.
