Just saw on Twitter that Samedy was named B1G POY... It is so well-deserved!!! She is the first ever Gopher in program history to win it two straight seasons. Next is the NPOY.

Congratulations CC! One of two BIG libbers to be named All Big-Ten First (with Roddy). She has really stepped it up since the spring.

And Jenna rounds out our trio of representatives on the 2nd-team! Hope she continues her growth and gets up to 1st team next year.

Nice to see Stephanie, CC and Jenna get recognized. I’m glad Airi got an award too, even if it wasn’t first or second team. She was great filling in for Taylor.

CC being on 1st team is a great choice and honor. Shes had a great year even passing, I bet she wouldve been DPOY if Samedy wasnt POY.

No surprise from Samedy and CC honors. So well-deserved. They’re such workhorses for this team.
I think—relatively speaking—I’m most happy for Wenaas. I’m glad the B1G coaches recognized that our offense isn’t JUST Samedy. Wenaas’ contribution with her six-rotation skills has been pretty darn steady and shows so much upside. The future is bright.
Congrats to these three, Miyabe for the sportsmanship award, and to the team for another great Big Ten season! Onward and upward this weekend!

I’m glad the B1G coaches recognized that our offense isn’t JUST Samedy. It is mostly Samedy though.

I’m glad the B1G coaches recognized that our offense isn’t JUST Samedy. It is mostly Samedy though. Lol fair enough, but according to that graphic that they put on quite a few broadcasts, you could say the offense was mostly both of them.

I’d like to know what Shaff’s assist percentage is for the two of them. Wenaas is a consistent terminator when she has an angle. She is not the best at scoring off tools or high hands but I suspect set location is a factor in her hitting %
Higher Samedy D sets allow more time for approach and swing adjustment On back sets closer to the net if the contact point is at the apex of her jump Samedy can hit over the top of most blocks. On quicker 2S and ?2.5s she can defeat an unclosed block She gets blocked most frequently on the closer sets after the block gets well established
I would expect Shaff’s assist % is better with Samedy
Neither Wenaas nor Miyabe are accomplished tippers so when they can’t take a hard swing, which happens too often imo, we leak points. Vary set tempo and location, gap set MBs and our OHs
I believe the talent for hitting .300 is there

SS just announced as BIG Ten Player of the Year - So so deserved and I am really happy for her........
The Big Ten announced the 2021 conference volleyball awards on Wednesday and Minnesota Gophers redshirt senior Stephanie Samedy was named the Big Ten Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Samedy becomes the first ever Gopher to win the award twice, and is just the fourth ever Big Ten player to win the award in back to back seasons. It now makes five of the last seven seasons that a Gopher has won the Big Ten Plyer of the Year award as Samedy joins herself, Samantha Seliger-Swenson in 2018, Sarah Wilhite in 2016 and Daly Santana in 2015. _______________ There are posters that have wondered in the recruiting process how she got away from Florida. However, would she have had the success at Florida like she had in the BIG and at Minnesota? Honestly, we will never know. But I know what my answer to that question would be.
