I would take the intangibles that Hancock and Hunter had over a pure setter. Hancock and Hunter were as pure as any setter. Both set in high school, club, for USAV, and in college.

So, can we start saying that what the likes of O'Neal, Butler and Phillips is more what the USA is looking for now or in the future for their middles? Or Rettke with her height who can run an effective slide the most needed? It'll never be Phillips or O'Neal. Neither are great blockers. Rettke has already proven herself against the best in the world. Not sure why this us even a question. Until last night. Ooof!

Let me put it this way. Let Texas, Kentucky or anyone else schedule home and aways with Purdue, Ohio State, Penn State, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Nebraska in the same season for the next five years and see how well they do. Didn't Nebraska duck out of the Big 12 because it couldn't beat Texas (in any sports)?? No. Nebraska, Mizzou and Colorado left the Big 12 because Texas destroyed a great Big 8 Conference when the Big 8 stupidly let the SWC refugees (particularly Texas) into the conference.

Nebraska left because they were wining about not being the biggest fish in the pond anymore. Such a BS take. Just look at the state of Nebraska football. They will NEVER be relevant again because they lost that Texas recruiting pipeline.

Anyone else noticed how awesome black girls have performed in this tournament? And don't come at me cos this is a black girls appreciation post. They bring extra juice to every team that has had a deep run. Note to coaches, diversify your teams and reap the rewards. You have nothing to lose! Are you stupidly suggesting that coaches aren't recruiting top players because they are black? Washington's team isn't exactly diverse, yet they made a deep run. Penn State and Minnesota have plenty of diversity and did not make the FF. Only racists make everything about race.

I remember exactly what happened when Texas came into the conference and began dictating terms to all the other schools. Texas drove those schools out and other original Big 8 schools would have left if they had had options. Unfortunately, schools like Kansas, K-State, Iowa State, etc., are stuck with you.

As I said, only racists focus on race and try to introduce it into every discussion. The obsession with race is unhealthy and ultimately destructive.

This %*$# again. Even the Big 10 schools don't play that schedule. Quit being a conference homer and accept that Texas just took down three of those schools 3-1, 3-1, 3-0. Even though the Big 10 now has an unbalanced schedule, most of the teams play exactly that schedule.

The Big 12 was essentially the premier conference at one point, especially in football. At no point was UT dictating any terms to any of the other schools. Like Ohio State and Michigan don't do the same with the Big Ten? Had Nebraska had the level of success Texas did in the 2000s, I imagine they would still be a part of the Big 12. Like a wounded puppy, they made a rash decision and decided that they could "do better" in the Big Ten conference and lol. What's funny is that it was The University of Texas who FOUGHT for UNL to get a membership in the AAU because they wanted more Big 12 schools there. Texas can literally join any conference in the country and be welcomed with open arms.

I don’t think anyone is arguing against Hunter being a pure setter. But Hancock was definitely not a “pure” setter coming into college. She was a great volleyball player and a good setter for awhile and then became great at both under Russ/Salima. I guess it depends on how you want to define pure setter though. I don’t think it has anything to do with what you did in high school or anything because Glass spent time hitting in HS too.
