I actually feel a little remorseful because this feels like 2016 when Carlini lost and had no title after her brilliant 4 years and now the same thing happens with Rettke. Agreed. Sheff is a very good coach but to go 0-8 with 4 years of Carlini and 4 years of Rettke/Hilley stings. Remarkable that he’s gone an entire eight years without recruiting an elite pin attacker. He couldn’t recruit anyone better than Loberg or Haggerty. Yikes.

Also, keep in mind she also went through a lot of injuries during her career. Pretty sure most coaches would consider her an "elite pin". But ya, I agree.

Also so much for many people saying this was “the real final” yikes. The result for Wisconsin was the same as last year's final so maybe people weren't wrong.

Yes but I also think some other factors came into play with her decommitting from Nebraska.

Some people said Nebraska-Texas was the real final If Kentucky sweeps Texas, maybe Kentucky-Washington would have been the real final! If gumdrops fell like raindrops.

Yes, I read his post. Why not a great VB players appreciation post? Why does everything have to be about race? As I said, only racists focus on race and try to introduce it into every discussion. The obsession with race is unhealthy and ultimately destructive. Why are you so defensive about this? Just read the post and move on if you don’t appreciate what was posted. Silence is free. I'm not being defensive. I think it's absurd to introduce race into discussions that have nothing to do with race and I said so.

And the only Haggerty with a Natty is Meghan. I kind of thought Molly would join her.

Let people congratulate the teams that push a culture of diversity and move on. It doesn’t have to be any deeper than that, or what you’re making it.

Do you really think any coach recruits for racial balance or proportionality? Do you think any coach gives the slightest thought to race at all?

Do you really think any coach recruits for racial balance or proportionality? Do you think any coach gives the slightest thought to race at all? Yes. It’s called culture. And some coaches care more about a culture of inclusion than others. And some top talent care about what that culture looks like in those gyms. Looking around and seeing inclusion and diversity is part of the recruiting process, so yes absolutely. It’s not about proportion or balance. It’s about representation and inclusion. And in a sport that is underrepresented in its diversity, celebrating programs that value that is important. If you want to stay blind to that, go for it. The rest of us will go on knowing that these decisions aren’t made in a colorblind vacuum.

Do you really think any coach recruits for racial balance or proportionality? Do you think any coach gives the slightest thought to race at all? Just STOP! You probably think employers only hire the "most qualified." There are implicit and unconscious biases that impact how people's everyday interactions and yes, how coaches RECRUIT talent. Your commentary is uninformed and unintelligent. It is clear that you think people on this board are "obsessed" with race, when in fact people in 2021 are still penalized because of their race. People of color do NOT have the benefit of existing in spaces without people bringing up race (i.e, microaggressions). You don't get to erase someone's identity that has been weaponized against them for centuries. And you definitely do not get to dictate how people celebrate Black women that have success in a sport where they are the minority. Do you know what it means to little Black girls to see themselves represented on the biggest stage in collegiate volleyball? The fact that you are telling people not to bring race into the conversation is showing your own privilege.
