Interesting that part of the reason Sun is coming back is for a chance at a national championship. Indicates she sees significant potential for this fall's team in that regard. it’s Nebraska... the expectation going into every season is to win a NC. (Well almost every season) That and/or maybe she knows Lauren will be back too to increase their chances? 🤔 hihi Don't @ me just speculating.

The bigger part of her decision is probably improving her options at going Pro: 1) not wanting to go overseas at a time where Covid isn't under control in those countries and 2) improving the quality of offers she receives. On #2, Sun needs to improve on consistency on the quality of her play (not throwing shade, merely paraphrasing John Cook) - some games she is on fire, others she is umimpressive and out-played by Madi Kubik. I imagine that the lack of consistency means she is not getting very good pro offers at the moment.

Sun has had a ton of training and a ton of really outstanding training. I don’t believe training or technical issues are at the heart of her struggles. Her errors come in bunches and they come at critical points in a match, to me that is a sign of confidence and toughness more so than it is a technical issue. Before someone has an aneurysm, I think she’s a helluva player, I do believe she has areas of her game that can and need to improve technically, it is however my opinion If she makes a big jump as a player it will come from more confidence and improved mental toughness.

Yes I see your point. However, I think some of her poor performances have come when the team is playing under stress created by the other team. Sun then gets OOS sets that are less than optimal. I'm not sure, sorting all that out is above my abilities. Sun is not playing at the same level of Foecke IMO, but not many NE OH's have.

At that level you win or lose by how You respond to your opponent putting you under stress, that’s really the heart of what competition is. In the area of managing one self and mental toughness I think it’s unfair to compare damn near anyone to Foecke, she was as solid upstairs as about any player I’ve seen in college volleyball. Body language never changed, temperament never changed. How She related to teammates.......

I am not being critical of anyone's posts regarding Lexi and her play.
From my perspective Lexi is outstanding and I wouldn't ever characterize any of her games as poor. To be fair to the person first and the athlete she is second, I would call some games slightly off, but then her off games are better than many players best games. I'd still always want her starting and always on the floor as she gives us the best chances of winning. Also I want to see those times when she goes off and is unstoppable. She has lots of those moments.
Furthermore I wouldn't ever come out and criticize her play but in the interests of improving, which any of us can do, I would allow her to lead with how the game went and whether or not she thought it was up to her potential. Then we could have a meaningful and positive discussion about future play. I like her play and intensity and am glad she will be back on the floor as a Husker this fall. GBR!

So happy for JL, KRob and JWO! GBR and GO USA. JWO went from almost being dropped from the US team to overwhelming pick for Libero. What (another) comeback story for her!

Watching Cook break her down in film segments a few years ago, I was sure she'd be the US Libero. Then she hit some rough patches and I wondered if she was going to stick with volleyball. So glad she persevered and has earned her spot. She's such a pleasure to watch and such a great person.
