I would think the cost of rehabbing at Nebraska costs Nebraska very little given a full staff is already in place for the sports teams. Support for former athletes and in this case potential former athletes is not only the right thing to do but the smart thing to do. Imagine how athletes that were being recruited would feel if they believed that if they were injured, they might receive no support starting the day they ran out of eligibility. Being a former Husker is an exclusive club that is supported in any way possible.

Why the school would put out there that she had a back injury and surgery is a little baffling… I have no inside info, but assume Stirvens agreed they could release the info. Appears she will be rehabing at the UNL athletic facilities, so could not keep that secret. Had they not released some info, there would likely be inaccurate rumors. Not sure how serious her injury or surgery were, but seems she may not be healthy for the start of the fall 2021 vb season. Edit this would explain her lack of a decision as to her fall playing intentions. She is just not sure at this point. She was injured playing for NE, thus NE should facilitate her rehab IMO. Stivrins not Stirvens

Well, this is a lot less exciting than I thought yesterday. Hope she gets back into the mix, either as a late-season signee for a pro team or at Nebraska. Back injuries are the worst.

If you do t k ow extent of injury or anything about her surgery why would it seem she may not be ready for start of season? key words "may not" She is in rehab after back surgery, seems a 6-12 mo rehab/recoup period MAY be in her long term best interest....but I dont know, that's what Drs determine...just speculating as to why she has not announced her plans...she does not know how her rehab will go...again speculation...is that wrong of me to speculate on that...I dont think so, but others may disagree...

I would think the cost of rehabbing at Nebraska costs Nebraska very little given a full staff is already in place for the sports teams. Yeah, but it costs them a scholarship, right? Not just in actual dollar amounts, but opportunity cost of not being able to allocate it to another player (and potentially risking a transfer). Worth it if Stivrins can rehab to play by the end of the season, but if not. . . I await the judgment of Husker nation.

In football they put a player on medical meaning they cant play for that university and the team gets the scholarship back.. but not 100% sure

If Lauren isn't coming back, she will have a short-lived podcast with Nicklin. So, over the past 24 hours, we’ve learned that Strivens is coming back. (Hallelujah). Only to find out that she’s NOT coming back to play; only to rehab her injury, which required back surgery. But she IS going to host a podcast, which is being promoted through a photo that includes a picture of a former player who filed a lawsuit against Nebraska for not taking her claim of being raped seriously. Nebraska. Honestly, It’s not for everyone. Lame

My best understanding is that for fall sports (but not winter or spring sports, BTW) part of the extra COVID year "deal" is that a player who was on scholarship in 2020-2021 and played in 2020-2021 and would otherwise be out of eligibility can remain on scholarship and play in 2021-2022 and NOT count against that team's scholarship limit. Lexi can play and be on scholarship and not count against the limit; Stivrins can be on scholarship (and play?) and not count against the scholarship limit. The university has to 'absorb' the extra cost for those 'extra' scholarships - and is NOT required to do so - but if they do, it does not count against the limit.

Oops. You’re right. She didn’t claim rape. Only sexual assault. I’m not diminishing anything other than your complete lack of accuracy, let’s be accurate on something, anything.
