Loberg since Maryland:
7 1 18 .333 11 2 30 .300 12 1 32 .344 9 2 24 .292 13 5 32 .250
That is really good - low error, steady production.

Brandewie to Ohio State per Ohio State thread. Arggh! What the hell! One recruit in 2022 and 2023, although both are top recruits. Very frustrating. Are there any Top 50 recruits left for 2023? I know people kepp saying that the transfer portal is an option, but that is like a temporary solution, especially if it is a graduate transfer who will only have one year of eligibility. I am going to try to put my faith in the coaching staff but am very curious how this is going to shake out. I hope there are some more Smreks and Orzols on the international stage that might help with depth and ensure that we can continue to compete for BT and national championships every year. Recruits: 2020 (3 recruits): MJ Hamill, Jade Demps and Devyn Robinson 2021 (3 recruits): Lauren Jardine, Anna Smrek and Julia Orzol 2022 (1 recruit): Ella Wrobel 2023(1 recruit): Saige Damrow

Halfway through the ‘poll season” and the Badgers are in the top 3 in the AVCA poll, the VT poll and the latest RPI.
How are you feeling Wisconsin fans?

Glad the team has some depth for once, but upset with the volleyball gods about the injuries. I hope the blocking gets better, which is the biggest concern at this point, in my opinion. Loberg has been good recently, which has helped a lot. I hope more reps helps improve things on the right side, both blocking and offensively. I love the upside of both Demps and Jardine, and I hope Smrek is available soon, but the middle/right combination of Hart, Rettke and Robinson was really, really good this fall (and not shabby in the spring either). Otherwise, in one thing more under their control, the serving was really good in the non conference, and I hope they get back to that level. Of course, all that said, league opponents are combining to hit .162 against the Badgers, a number which would probably win you a lot of matches. Obviously, Barnes is having a heck of a run, which helps with that. I just hope the Badgers can find a consistently high level at which to play, because this league is tough, but I know we have also been spoiled this year on what they have been able to do in terms of margin of victory against good teams (thus, this week's number 1 Pablo ranking, richkern.com is so worth it, in a shameless plug).

The Big 10 title still goes through Madison. Purdue, Nebraska, etc. can win it but they have to beat Wisc to do it.

Maybe there are some recruits who have changed their minds, or it could be a foreign recruit or two. Fingers crossed

They do get really young, but a core of Orzol, Demps, Jardine, Smrek, Hammill, Hart (coming back, I think), Ashburn and MacDonald (who's been getting more time) is pretty strong. Add in Wrobel and the pins are stacked. They need middle depth next year and maybe a DS/L transfer or two.

BLOCKING: I watched Set 4 vs. Kentucky again....Hart won that set near the end for Wisconsin. And the blocking vs. Iowa was pretty awful - I was distraught when we got home from that match. But...they picked it up again vs. Illinois. I hope the blocking improves on the right side, too.

Do you realize how many elite college players were not “top 50 recruits” and also how many “top 50 recruits” have not performed in ways expected? Kelly is smart, he will find the talent he needs. I think it’s also important to remember that the sport of volleyball is growing so much, and the level of play is also being raised. With that said, there are way more than 50 players in the country who have the potential to be elite level players in college if coached right. Don’t get so caught up in numbers.
