I didn’t see any recruits there. I did see Haleigh Nelson and Amber MacDonald.

Just a shout out to the Student Section which was outstanding against Penn State! They stayed in all 3 hours of a grueling match and put pressure on the opponent servers without being vulgar or inappropriately personal….. The shoe thing was outstanding & got a service error in set 5!

The shoe thing was outstanding & got a service error in set 5! Yeah…less fans for the Saturday night match, but the ones that came did their jobs! The shoe chant got the MadHouse mentioned on BTN and showed quick witted ridicule is readily available at the Field House. They were great. Now if they would just find some creativity and make a new chant to replace “Sieve! Sieve! Seive!” The hockey thing is confusing and outdated.

I'm ok with sieve. Solely because if they get creative it might be such creativity as "Eat stuff, F U" or something similar like at football!
Saturday there weren't enough of them to drown out that obnoxious PSU fan in the section either. She got a wide berth because she didn't have a mask. Clearly she didn't have breathing problems.

So Gio just straight-up doesn’t have an ACL. And she’s back out there. I’m impressed.

I hate to be the buzz kill but I’m pretty sure it’s also risky. Without an intact ACL she’s vulnerable to other tears and joint damage. But I assume they’re all aware and were thorough in weighing the risks as she made the decision to play.
To be very clear: her doctors and training staff absolutely know what they’re doing and wouldn’t put her in undue danger and I’m not suggesting otherwise. And she’s a badass. Sucks she won’t get to play in Italy ugh

I was surprised by the Badgers’ poise this evening. 6 in a row vs. the Huskers is a big deal. This is an inspiring team, despite its loss of Hart and damage to Civita. 😊

Sucks she won’t get to play in Italy ugh Assume mild tear of the ACL. Without an ACL your knee buckles in a way that tears up the meniscus. The article in the WI State Journal made it sound like the graft failed; Civita said she felt to give out while jumping to make a serve in practice, and that wouldn't be nearly enough to actually tear the replacement "ligament". That would almost certainly mean there is nothing there acting as an ACL. Yes, partial tears can happen to your actual ACL. But replacement grafted ligaments are generally stronger that the original. They are more likely to have the graft fail than tear a second (or third) time. And yes, the articles said she also has tear(s) in the meniscus. madison.com/wsj/sports/college/volleyball/how-giorgia-civita-is-playing-for-the-badgers-volleyball-team-3-weeks-after-tearing-her/article_524c9675-a09d-538f-a383-3ecbfbb13745.html

Last weekend she was dressed in "ready to play" clothes, but tonight she was back in "not available" clothes. So that means yet another setback? Geez, I hope not.
