WV used to be rather mediocre. Have they flipped the script? Pages starting turning last season....good for them.

Fire 👏🏼 Shane 👏🏼 Davis 👏🏼
NU should hire former assistant and gold medalist Erin Virtue. Let a talented woman turn this program into what it could be. Too many mediocre male coaches. It's time.

I really like Shane. Quality man. I know two of his starting pin hitters are out - based on the box score. I don’t see any need for one poster to create such animosity - but it’s a wide open board. If it makes you feel better, have at it.

Chan did more there than they had achieved before, to be fair. Not entirely true. He took them to 4 NCAA tourneys in 17 seasons (02-03-05-10). The program won the Big Ten in 83-84 amid of 4 tourney runs from 81-84 where they were in the top 20, so I might give that coach a little more credit, even if we’re talking a different era of the sport. Davis’s best season isn’t even a winning one: .500 (16-16) in 2018, with the most conference wins of his tenure (6).

If it makes you feel better, have at it. You can be a quality person and a terrible coach. The two are not mutually exclusive. Rating job performance here, not the “good guy” quotient.

What kind of person gets on a message board and launches a “Fire Shane Davis” thread?

What kind of person gets on a message board and launches a “Fire Shane Davis” thread? A passionate fan. To be fair, the thread was not renamed. Remember the time when Stanford fans were calling for John Dunning's head? And he had at least won a couple championships.

What's wild about this is Caffey didn't play until the 4th set in that 5-setter against UNO and still had 7 blocks. Imagine what these numbers would be had she played the whole game! (I also don't think the match would've gone 5 sets had she played from the beginning, but what do I know?)

Calling to fire John Dunning would be a good example of fanatic fans, I think.

Shane won National Championships. To say it's the coaching is short-sighted. Fact is, NW hasn't succeeded at ANY sport outside of country club sports. Can't imagine they will in VB no matter who takes the helm. Sorry not sorry.
