Northwestern sweeps Iowa on the road. The Hawkeyes have lost every set they’ve played since the five-set loss to Illinois in the conference opener. Ugh. Except they embarrassed the Badgers by taking them to 28-26 in the 3rd set…and didn’t look bad.

Catching up on a few things I missed while I was at the Devaney.
Couple of libero developments on both sides of the Maryland-MSU meeting. Lauryn Gibbs was the libero for Michigan State instead of Talia Edmonds. Edmonds played as a DS. For Maryland, Milan Gomillion returned after missing the last couple of matches due to that hit she took against Northwestern.
Terps won 3-1.

In the Wisconsin match, Edmonds didn't look good at all. Then again, not many would against Wisconsin's arsenal.

Oh gosh. I've gotta rewind and see that. Iowa was up 23-18 and 24-21; then collapse.

Ahaha, Onabanjo tipped an easy ball at 24-23 and the announcer went, "ARGHHH!"

Okay…here’s a B1G mini-poll: “Who are the best BTN+ announcers?” My opinions: (DK means I haven’t heard them) Illinois - Okay. Competent, but weird audio with one guy who’s sometimes yelling Indiana: Awful. One “color” woman in the spring did not know they play to 25. Exceptionally bad. Iowa: One guy, competent, minimalist…allows for empty space and not afraid to criticize the home team Maryland: Homers, that repeat themselves a lot…but okay Michigan: DK Michigan State: Frankly, I can’t remember, so I guess they were boring and competent Minnesota: DK Nebraska: Professional, but a bit homerish. They add a lot of detail, and stats. Northwestern: Definitely students, but lively informed, sometimes funny commentary Ohio State: Only one guy, but he knows his sh$t! Excellent, quick commentary, that also educates the viewer Penn State: DK Purdue: Sound like students who think they need to cheer on Purdue Rutgers: Two very well-informed guys who seem to work well together and do their homework! Wisconsin: DK (I’m always at the Field House) Now tell me your impressions. (Especially about the OSU guy…I wonder if he plays for the OSU men…?) The Nebraska announcers (John Baylor and Lauren Cook-West) are pretty good in my book. No doubt JB is homerish, but he's also pretty clever and creative with his comments. Last night in the Illini match, "Neither team can serve a warrant." Another occasional comment is, "More blocks than a pre-school."
When he gets especially homerish, Lauren may call him out on it. You can always tell when she thinks he's getting carried away, because she will laugh at him. She does a nice job adding color too, and knows the players and the program quite well.

I think he is/was a player for the men's volleyball team. He's so knowledgable, steady, and very neutral. Compliments and critiques equally.

He is an assistant coach for the men's team and played at George Mason. He's married to a former OSU player who was an assistant coach when Geoff was still coach, so he used to be a little less critical of the OSU coaching staff.

Iowa is so much better than 2-16, IMO. I’ve only seen them a few times but they should have more wins than that.

Buzz seems to be going through the motions, not showing the fire I'm used to seeing from her on the floor. The unfortunate decision to tip from Onabanjo at 24-23 in Set 2 was indicative of the overall tentative play; they just aren't a confident team right now.
