Honest question? If USAV decides that the mess this tourney has created the last two years is not worth it and no longer covers the insurance or provides bid allocations from it, do they lose any revenue, funding, etc. from completely and totally distancing themselves? But more to the point... In the past USAV has pulled and reallocated NQ status... So it's not out of the realm of possibility. But at this point Xroads hasn't broken any USAV protocols or rules... Lots of bad press for sure... I don't know how long/under what conditions NQ events are given. Someone correct me if I'm wrong... But USAV athletes/members are covered under the USAV insurance umbrella to an extent. Are sanctioned events covered top to bottom under that policy as well?? Of that I'm unclear. Spectators are not covered... So it would seem that any venue would require some type of additional insurance... They have? When was the last time they pulled qualifier status from an event?

I am also interested in this, I know typically when a new NQ comes up for bid it is a VERY big deal and can bring life changing money to the business or entity awarded it. Losing a NQ status would no longer offer any incentive to play in it, other than nostalgia or local convenience, possibly wrecking FRVBC bottom line for years to come.

I believe some of that went down right when USAV presented the 18s Championship... For instance if memory serves they pulled an 18s NQ from Big South and gave one to A5... That's one example of what I'm referring to. There are a finite number of events USAV allows to be NQs... Seems plausible that they could do it again... But what it would take to rise to that is questionable.

Denver is still a destination city... Capital Hill (when it's in DC) Manages to fill the DC convention center and doesn't have a NQ label... So it's possible... The level of play/demographics of who attends may change... But it would still be viable.

I think Nashville would be good. They already do an 18s qualifier there.

Don't forget about the Triple Crown NIT... not a qualifier but has quickly become a tournament with best of the best status and heavily attended.

I think Nashville would be good. They already do an 18s qualifier there. If you replace it, you will probably need to keep it west of the Mississippi.

I haven't read all posts here so my apologies if I am a bit redundant. We were involved with Front Range Volleyball Club in the early 2000's for four years while our daughter played there. Parents, staff, & numerous volunteers made Crossroads happen every year even when the tournament was moved to Kansas City for a couple of years waiting for the Denver Convention Center to be completed. We put in hundreds of hours to insure Crossroads was considered one of if not THE best qualifier tournament of the year. We were and have been proud of the Crossroads Tourney for years UNTIL the absolute idiotic, boneheaded, unforgivable display of ignorance, shown by the club & tournament director this year. In interviews I've seen, which admittedly have been few, I was appalled and embarrassed at her flippant attitude and responses.
She may have single handedly taken all the hard work of hundreds & thousands of people over the years and FLUSHED IT AWAY, UNBELIEVEABLE!!! PLEASE don't let the unfortunate actions of a single person DESTROY what thousands have worked to build over the years. Thank You,
Signed, a VERY EMBARRASSED & ANGRY FRVBC Supporter

They just moved the event to a bigger convention center in Atlanta. And it isn’t A5.

Big South has always been owned/operated by the same ppl... But several yrs back USAV made all of their NQ tournaments go through a process to keep/reallocate the 18s qualifiers... Big South lost their 18s bids to another local event... I believe it was to a tournament run by A5... This also may be poor wording... That said Big South lost 18bids and someone else got some...

Big South 18s lost their bid because the event is almost always after the cutoff for 18s qualifiers. Beast of the Southeast might be run by A5 people. But the Dagostinos run the Music City Qualifier in January, so they still got an 18s qualifier. Just not in Atlanta. Pretty sure they are also close with the people who run the Boston Qualifier as well (which is why it moved to Tampa this year). Not sure if they have any financial stake in that event though.

I don’t think A5 runs Beast of the Southeast anymore. I always thought that was a crap tournament because it was Invitation only, but would let the absolute worst A5 teams in.

It's "Southern Volleyball Tournaments". I don't know if they are connected to a club.

The New England Region runs Boston... And have a good relationship with JVC... That's why it was in Tampa... Nothing to do with Big South
