If they would stretch out the Women's College World Series to be 10-12 days, that would probably favor teams that have one great ace pitcher over teams that have two or three good pitchers but no real ace pitcher (moreso than the current setup).
In the last completed Men's College World Series in 2019, neither of the teams that made the finals (Michigan and Vanderbilt) started the same pitcher twice in the three final games. And neither of those two teams ever started the same pitcher in back-to-back games, even though their games before the finals were not on consecutive days.
I'm not an expert in terms of how much rest pitchers or other athletes require between games. As a fan, I do tend to appreciate seeing the same team have to use different pitchers.

Well, the mechanics of pitching in baseball are much harder on the arm than they are in softball. There's a reason why starting MLB pitchers have pitch count limits and usually have four days of rest or more between starts, only going to three days (or extremely rarely, less) in the playoffs.

there is a big push now on twitter and IG about changing the WCWS format and complaints re: gender equality to the CWS. should they change softball games to 9 innings (or college baseball games to 7 innings) in the interest of gender equality? (or are college baseball games already 7 innings? I haven't watched one for over a decade)

The difference between softball and baseball is not like the difference between men's volleyball and women's volleyball. It's more like the difference between six-person indoor volleyball and 2-person beach volleyball. They are related games, but not the same.

James Madison leads off the game by hitting a solo shot on the first pitch of the game.

James Madison leads off the game by hitting a solo shot on the first pitch of the game. They're gonna need more. It's crazy how much they rely on 1+2 in their lineup - Sara Jubas and Kate Gordon. Those two were almost good enough to already have them in the WCWS practically by themselves. But JMU is up 1-0 and we're headed to the Top 3rd.

I don't want to have to root for one of Oklahoma/Bama/Florida State. Though I guess I'll go FSU since their path was pretty improbable too, but they might not make it. Although, I did think Alabama and Oklahoma were the favorites, playing the best softball so far. It will probably be a very high quality series if it happens.

Scratch that. JMU 1-2-3 in the top of the 6th, so now they only have one more chance (7th) to score some runs, or else it ends for them today.

Oklahoma now up 4-1 after a two-out, two-run double after a great at-bat fouling off pitches.

A hit by pitch and then another two-run double has Oklahoma up 6-1. I think that's probably it. Amazing effort by Alexander in this WCWS. She just got lifted after another hit by pitch and left to a standing ovation from the largely pro-Oklahoma fans.

Alo just hit a leadoff bomb to left center, and her reaction was incredible. She looked genuinely bored and unimpressed with herself.
