All events are ticketed, and are gold series This means ONLY ticketed? I would venture a guess of "Yes, ticketed entry" in '21 . . . Qualifer free, IMHO . . after that . . . "Sir, can you display your ticket"? LOL

I can't find any details on the size of the draws, but VolleyballMag did release the purse sizes for each. It's going to be $100k for the men's and women's each for Atlanta and Chicago, and $125k for the MBO. The last time the AVP was in Atlanta, the size of the draw was 24 teams. Manhattan is usually 32 teams, and Chicago has traditionally been 24 teams before it got shrunk down TO 16 in 2019 because of the beach erosion. The lake is lower this year, so hopefully there is enough beach to go back to 24 teams. The split setup last time between Oak Street and North Avenue worked pretty well. If they could squeeze in one more court at Oak Street by the stadium, I think it could work again with 24. Gold series events in 2019 were $150k. Champions Cup last year were $100k but only paid top 18 with just 6 automatic main draw berths. There was talk last year that keeping the main draw smaller makes for a more compelling TV product. I guess only the automatic main draw teams need to worry about the contract up front, however many that is. It will be interesting to see how they distribute the prize money this year. The Champions Cup payouts were less top heavy than in previous years. The Champions Cup Series also had the prize pool for the top three teams, which made it more top heavy in the end. They typically try to make the top prize 20% of the total purse, so I would expect the winners of Atlanta and Chicago to take home $20k, and $25k for Manhattan.

I read that Donald Sun mentioned "TWO" possible future events in '21 . . .

Tri has some support among the players here. Kim Hildreth with some pretty strong words about the player contract. Expecting a pretty lively Sandcast this week!

I'm very grateful and excited for live events, but at the same time very underwhelmed by just having 3 stops as of now.

Doesn’t seem right the players have to sign a contract for 3-7 tournaments per year. Sure, there should be expectations of players promoting tournaments and doing some media but I never thought it was right that players had to (seemingly) sign exclusive AVP contracts when P1440 was starting up.
If AVP had lots of tournaments and provided a lot of $ making opportunities, that is one thing, but they don’t so never felt it was right to restrict players playing VB and making some extra bit of $$. What most players make outside of just a select few is so minimal to begin with.

Back in 2017 there was great hesitation about signing the AVP player contract with the exclusivity clause. The concern was that 1) a four year commitment was too long and 2) eight events per year was not enough.
Really curious to find out what the terms are for this new contract. Three events does seem paltry compared to what was promised four years ago. On the other hand, there’s no real potential alternative like the NVL-Armato merger was at the time. Unless p1440 sees this as an opportunity to jump back into the mix.

anyone disappointed with only three events... can we please get back to 15 events... sure i'll watch the three but it's only favoring the top tier teams, which are already getting another income from FIVB.

My question is, when will tickets be available? I'm definitely looking at Manhattan Beach and Chicago, but don't want to plan out travel unless I know for sure I can get into the events

My question is, when will tickets be available? I'm definitely looking at Manhattan Beach and Chicago, but don't want to plan out travel unless I know for sure I can get into the events We went out on a limb and booked a hotel for Chicago already. I wish they would at least announce what the ticket situation is going to be, even if they don't go on sale right away. Is only stadium court going to be ticketed, or will you need one to get onto the beach? If Chicago splits between Oak Street and North Ave beaches again, that will be hard to enforce. I will at least want stadium court tickets for Sunday, but I have no idea what the situation will be for Friday and Saturday.

3 events is a shame. There HAS to be something better they can do.
Maybe not, but if not can somebody explain why... please

I agree but to me it's on us fans to make the product something that makes $ for every event. Donald is a business man so if every event he was running was making a lot of money I would assume we would have a lot more events. I hope they have ticketed seats for the entire event. We the fans need to sell out these seats and sell them out quickly. The the fans can support the AVP and buy seats/merchandise the more successful the AVP will be.
I think the days of fans showing up sitting there all day and not spending money on tickets/merchandise to support the AVP need to end. We need to be willing to spend on tickets and more to help the growth of the sport.
