Heck, maybe Turkey is now the favorite to win gold now. Sounds crazy, but after today's result, you never know they just might. with the way they were playing.....sure looks like it. hard to tell if turkey played well or China played bad tbh

Cause no one can play well against the USA, it’s just that we are always horrible 🤷🏻♂️

Experience shows at the olympics. Especially at key positions like setter.. 🤷🏼♂️ How do you explain China's loss with Ding Xia, and Turkey's win with Ozbay? Is Italy's Malinov is now your favorite?
Ozbay is very experienced. China sucked as a whole.

Ozbay is very experienced. China sucked as a whole. Ozbay is not that much older than Poulter. Yes, Ozbay has been in the pro leagues for a while, but she also spent the last year sitting on the bench behind Maja, while Poulter took her team to the semis of CL. Not sure how much of a difference there is between the two and their experiences.

Maja didn’t have a great season. The difference in experience is massive. Poulter has half the expense Hancock has…

Also agree there, she definitely didn't just benchwarm for Maja last season and might have played more, they even decided to continue without Maja from here on for next season.

Maja started every important match. Cansu only played because of the foreigner rules. She did come in for Maja in a few matches, but she wasn’t ahead of her that’s for sure. Also, Gio tweeted about players signing contracts too early (referring to Maja with Eczi) so I’m assuming he wanted to keep her.

I just can’t understand your standards. It seems that everyone underperformed.

Yes plenty did and I did not say anything about Carlini. I’m speaking about experience and it’s factual. So.

From my understanding Gio wanted to build for the future again, not the first time he replaced a world-class player with a youngster. Think Sheilla > Sloetjes > Haak 3 times in Opp spot lmao

I'm with many of the other posters.... I'm not sure what I just watched. Turkey did play very well, but damn China was in the Sh*tter the entire match. Ball control was horrible, and their hitters were tentative.
One area that was very impressive for Turkey was their block. Not only the block points, but they were getting their hands on EVERYTHING! Which does kinda speak to China's ball control.
