Who actually said China plan this? I am curious to know. I've seen some comments on VT people said Lang Ping doesn't care about the pool play that's why they're not performing as expected. But also outside of VT in the social media, there were some discussions that Lang Ping has a strategy behind all these losses after the first loss to Turkey. But now I think it's just obvious that China is not the same and it's very fragile. China does not throw matches in the Olympics. They are simply mentally weak. Even if Zhu's wrist was injured, it should not have lead to the total collapse of the rest of their game. Their serving, blocking and reception just isn't there. That suggest mental problems. China should have hired a sports psychologist to prep the players.

JLP said she will discuss with the team but for the last two matches, China might be playing just the “healthy players”.

I mean.... yikes. sad for JLP to be crashing out this way. I know they're technically out yet, but it'll take an act of god for China to make it out of pool play. I am far from 100% fluent in Chinese, but the Chinese fans comments I've been reading...funny yet predictable. They are FURIOUS. They demand Lang Ping be fired. Some demand total reform of the whole volleyball scene in China (which actually wouldn't be a bad thing like I said earlier).

Yeah, but I don't think the fans are expecting her to go out on this low note. Not even getting out of the preliminary pool...that's WAY below expectation for Chinese fans. They want Lang Ping fired rather than retire on her own decision. I read some enraged Chinese fans are even calling for the disbandment of China women volleyball (ok, I think thats a bit extreme, but I suppose in the emotion of the moment they just want to unleash their frustration). A more somber Chinese fan feared whether China is heading the way of Cuba, the former volleyball powerhouse of the 90s that has since fallen so very far from their glory days. Its a legitimate fear I guess, Lang Ping was supposed to be the best, and if even she cannot deliver, no other Chinese volleyball coach would qualify to take China back up to the glory days. Hiring a foreign coach? Out of the question, Chinese volleyball program does not tolerate that.

This article has quotes from Lang Ping about the difficult position they are now in, and about about Zhu Ting. Below the link is an excerpt from the article. apnews.com/article/2020-tokyo-olympics-sports-volleyball-womens-volleyball-china-a4617becfc3f0061454f0e584098ddefZhu has remained on the court the past two matches, but hasn’t been nearly as effective as usual and Lang said she would have to consult with the doctors to determine whether Zhu will be able to play in the final two pool matches. “Her injury just couldn’t heal,” Lang said. “I don’t know if she can continue to play.”

I don't even want to think about what Fedorotseva is going to look like in Paris...and since it's only 3 years away I believe she'll only be 20? A Parubets/Fedorotseva duo could be fun to watch.

Kudos to Voronkova btw. She's been covering a lot of court for Fedorovtseva in SR with no Parubets.

Russia might need a libero. Podkopaeva looks good but she’ll be 33 by Paris, might stick around but who knows. Same with Startseva. Russia has a couple of oppos in the youth teams, hopefully one gets good enough to be at a similar level to Gonch. But they definitely look set at the OHs.

Lmao I just looked at the stats for Russia on this match.
All three of Russia's pins had 50+ swings, and MB Koroleva was the next closest with 15.
I both love and hate this at the same time
