Is it weird to say Fedorotseva is like an upgraded version of what I thought Hodson was going to be?

Is it weird to say Fedorotseva is like an upgraded version of what I thought Hodson was going to be? Omg I completely forgot about Hodson. I wonder if she didn't have post concussive syndrome, if she would have been here at the Olympics right now. OR she could have faded away like Barboza did.

Chinese new sources are now reporting Lang Ping may be fired by the Chinese volleyball federation upon her return to China rather than be allowed to retire on her own decision. That is not confirmed yet, but if that does turn out to be true, that would be a disappointing end to Lang Ping's coaching career. That would also be a bit unfair too, since objectively, Lang Ping did coach China to an Olympic Gold medal in Rio and two World Cup championships (2015 and 2019), that is not a bad record at all.
But then again, not even being able to get out of the preliminary pool would set a new low for China's performance at the Olympics. The volleyball federation and Chinese fans would find that hard to stomach. And since the federation's political and financial support is based on how well their team does at the major tournaments, there would be demands from the political higher-ups for accountability on the volleyball federation. And Lang Ping may well end up as the scapegoat in that case.

If China beats Italy, and Russia loses the rest of the Olympics, then in theory China can still make it out of pool play. I know this is wishful thinking, but China has shown that they can get themselves out of very hard situations.

I know this is wishful thinking, but China has shown that they can get themselves out of very hard situations. I don't know, is the hole too deep for China to dig themselves out of this time? China would have to beat Italy either 3-0 or 3-1 to keep their chances alive and hope Russia loses their remaining matches. Given the way China has played, that's kind of a mission impossible. But then again, I suppose stranger things have happened. So yeah, its still possible...

can't beat italy playing like this. Any confirmation to some rumours going around in some Chinese news source that Lang Ping might be fired? didn't see any, but the women's soccer coach had to answer (and yes, likely fired) for his 0-5 vs Brazil, 2-8 vs Netherlands, and 4-4 vs Zimbabwe.
I really can't imagine Lang Ping having a better fate with a 1-4 record in group stage (if that) and not to mention the women's vb team is (ok, was) one of the best in the world whereas soccer was a solid tier 2 team at best.
not opposed to her firing tbh. a lot of shenanigans in this quad, just covered up because of good results.

Yeah what kind of shenagians are we talking about here? I know Chinese fans are upset that Wang Mengjie got picked for libero over Rio veteran Lin Li, because fans think Lin Li is the better libero. But what kind of stuff are you talking about here? I am curious to know.
