USA and Canada tied at zero at half of the 1st semifinals. Pretty uneventful half except USA goalie Naeher got injured and had to be subbed out

Shocked and thrilled that Canada finally defeats the US in a meaningful match! I have been paying attention to Sinclair for two decades now and it's amazing to see her (and Canada) get this huge monkey off their back.

Feels nice for the Canadians to finally be making the gold medal match after two straight semi final losses. I won’t lie either, most Canadians who follow women’s soccer still were sour about that 2012 match too 🥴

US Women's team 2-2-1 in Olympics...looked lazy, lethargic, and almost arrogant..there is a good chance they won't medal as Australia and Sweden have both played much better

Question is, which color will it be? I'd be surprised if Sweden don't win gold, they've been the best team of the tournament.

I won’t lie either, most Canadians who follow women’s soccer still were sour about that 2012 match too 🥴 The ghosts of the 2012 Olympics came home to roost for the USA. Always felt like USA stole that semi win from Canada in London. That call on the GK for holding onto the ball for more than 6 seconds was a bad call. Although, there was the Tancredi stomp on Lloyd's head before she assisted on Sinclair's second goal. That's why I didn't feel bad for Canada back then and was happy USA won gold. This year's US women's national soccer team just didn't look good. I feel like they it's Sweden's gold to lose.

I just woke up to see that Canada defeated the US 1-0. Wow, I didn't think Canada had it in them. Congrats to them. Sweden and Australia are scoreless in about the 40th minutes. Australia just had a dangerous free kick that the keeper had to push over the bar.

Australia and Sweden are scoreless at halftime. Sam Kerr had a goal that was waved off for a foul or something (the whistle had blown before she shot it). I only saw the last 10-15 minutes of the half, but Australia has been the more dangerous team from what I saw.

Sweden has scored less than a minute into the second half. The keeper got a hand on a bouncing shot, but it wasn't cleared, and Sweden put in a rebound.

Do I see a pattern here, top-tier and favorite team and players falling by the waysides, US men indoor, US women soccer, China women indoor, Simone Biles...well ok, Biles choose not to compete, she didn't actually lost, and she will be competing in the upcoming beam event.

This is part of it. (Saying all of this as someone who follows the team pretty closely), Dawn Scott’s (health and fitness coach or some similar title) absence has been felt. Plus, Europe is (continuously) catching up to us. We still were (or should have been) the clear favorites. We have the best midfield in the world (I’m pretty convinced Ertz and Lavelle are the two best players in the world right now). Our back line is top 3 in the world, except Dahlkemper had an awful awful tournament. It’s our forwards situation that frustrates me. It’s time, regardless of the fan backlash, to tell Lloyd, Rapinoe and maybe Morgan that their days with the National Team are done.
