We knew her serve was only effective against crappy teams.. a wasted spot. Crappy teams like Wisconsin in the national championship match? Crappy teams like her professional league teams? She is a non factor for the US in these Olympic games, like most of us expected, deal with it homer.

Maybe the pressure was just too much, and the team should withdraw for mental health reasons.

You dolt. Nothing to do with Carlini. The team was AWFUL in every phase but defense, and only JWO stood out in that regard. I have never seen the U.S. completely unable to terminate. Poulter can't block and was used like a tissue. We knew Dress couldn't block so there's that as well. I'm not sure why Hill is being iced because Robinson might be the worst terminating outside as this level. That was my point. Cheesehead Jesus couldn't have possibly made a difference in this match. You really are a tool. Be gone already.

She's been more of a factor than Cheesehead Jesus, though -- and she has a better seat.

I’ve never seen you add anything of value to any international volleyball thread ever. Only trashing Carlini and praising Hancock. I’m genuinely curious if you know anything about this or are just stanning Hancock because she’s from PSU. I was team Hancock but she was absolutely horrid in her limited action against Russia last night.

And like many of us thought that would be the case because in an every other day tourney, the 2nd setter Mens or Women's rarely if ever plays at all except in exceptional situations. We all know this. In fact, often only 9 to 10 players factor in an Olympic tourney and most often the 2nd setter is NOT one of those who do. We already have a designated serving sub in Hill. Robinson has yet to really factor in. On the men's side, Kawika hasn't played, MG, Ensing haven't factored in and Jaeschke barely. But absolutely feel free to champion your celebratory mute point. On a side note, curious to what and how many bench players on the US have "factored" after our 3-1 record.? Feel free to expound.

You are so dumb. tennis players don't do death-defying flips either, but there have been similar high-profile withdrawals for mental health reasons. (perhaps not in the Olympics, but still high profile)

I don't participate in the international threads because I don't follow the foreign leagues as closely as I do the NCAA. As for Hancock being horrid in her limited action, it is never easy to come in cold off the bench, especially as a setter or server. Barney made a good point when he said she should have stayed in, given the score. More reps can result in better connections. I don't exactly stan any PSU players, including Hancock. I thought leaving Courtney at home was the right decision. You have to admit that the Cheesehead Jesus disciples on VT are way over the top in their praise of their lord & savior, as well as their criticism of Hancock. When I respond to that nonsense, I'm not stanning Hancock, but calling BS where it needs to be called.

100 percent truth. We lost a match, it's not the end of the world and we WILL recover. The mentality of posters wanting to fire KK and saying she's bad or she's the worst, is juvenile thinking. We have to support this team in good and bad times. One mistake and you guys fly off the handle like a child and say get rid of them. Perfection and always winning is a good thing, but it's not sustainable. Are ya'll this hard on yourselves when you don't get something right? Well said! Amanda Knox has a great article on "The Atlantic" that many here need to read. Go check it out. "All of this has made me extremely skeptical of those who easily pass judgment. It has made me allergic to the impulse to flatten others into cardboard, to erase their human complexity, to rage against things about which I know only a snippet. Judgment only gets in the way of understanding. Refraining from judgment has become a way of life for me. Call it radical empathy, or extreme benefit of the doubt. I know how wrong people were about me, and I don’t ever want to be that wrong about another person. The world is not filled with monsters and heroes; it’s filled with people, and people are extraordinarily complex." www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2021/07/amanda-knox-stillwater-matt-damon/619628/Really good article written by Amanda Knox. Had no clue that Stillwater was about the incident.

She is an excellent and world class player and named to the Olympic Squad. She IS a member this (our) team.
