Avid, with the 12 am ET time reference, maybe you should add Aug. 4th on the right side; it can be confusing otherwise. Oh, and where is MST time? Asking for speegs13 and myself.

Minneapolis news just reported that Thompson will play. That doesn't sound right. It's too soon.

I'll take the reigning NORCECA Champions. Although it will be nice to see Jordan Thompson possibly get an MVP award in Tokyo 2020. I hope it's a good match all in all. This could be the last major international match for some of the older DR players. Rivera, Marte are expected to move on. Valdez is about to be 40. Thank goodness the Martinez sisters are still young and so promising. Hopefully they can have as long of careers as some of their predecessors! Anyways, the knockout format of the Olympics are fun, particularly in a QF match. It's all down to winning one match, winning three straight to win it all. South Korea and Dominican Republic are big underdogs, but they're now just one match away from having a guaranteed opportunity to play for a Bronze Medal at worst. Make no mistake, this is a gigantic opportunity even for a huge underdog. DR has never medaled at any top-tier/top-group major international event (World Cup, VNL/World Grand Prix Group 1, World Championships, Olympics). I liked one of Kwiek's quotes after a big win: "Today we faced an elite team, it wasn't easy. We lack money, we lack structure, among other things, but we have big hearts." Punto Viva Viva! Estamos de tu lado! Traitor! Just kidding, I agree, DR does have big hearts. I'm impressed Valdez can still play top level volleyball when she is pushing 40. But admirable as DR is I gotta root for the home team. US baby! As for underdogs, I don't like the way Korea has handled the "twins" situation, but they have played better than I expected. This may be KYK's last chance at getting on the podium. So I will root for Korea.

I know we beat Italy in 5 But who would we rather play in the semis? Italy or Serbia? Personally I would say Serbia, but I think it's honestly a tossup. I also wouldn't want a rematch with Italy - I'm still scarred from the semis in Rio

Ugh. I don't want a repeat of that here.

As far as TV. Looks like NBCSC will be showing Serbia/Italy and Brazil/ROC live. Not showing US/DR live.
Watching on USA/NBCSC will mean editing. USA/Italy edited out the 1st set and much of the 3rd set (including the Poulter injury). Watching 'live' isn't perfect, as they will go to commercials and will miss 7-8 points.
Looks like USA has allocated 1 1/2 hours at Noon (CT) tomorrow for potentially the US/DR match. And/or 2 hours at 3PM. What a pain...
I don't have my ID/Password to do streaming, plus it is pretty easy to just watch or record from the network.

Kim Hill question. So looking back at this year She was #1 in the USA gym for point scoring (vDOm 5/25 through vBra 6/25) 57.3%. Unfortunately these Olympics have been disastrous (31.6%). She is third to last on the team beating out Hancock and JWOW who isn't even allowed to serve. So my question is, if the USA is very stats driven should she be allowed to serve again? Or are the Olympics to short of a time to collect the relevant data to make that decision?
