She gave everything she had and more to this DR team. Congratulations to her on a great career and I will make sure to celebrate her official retirement later this year!

Anyone else tear up a little bit when JT hugged Annie?? Feels so genuine and so cool to see that moment go both ways Yes, but I tear up EVERY time the swimmer without legs/adoption commercial comes on. OMG. I often eye roll at ads or human interest pieces that are so blatantly working to get a reaction. But, that commercial really does genuinely hit me. "it might not be easy, but it will be amazing."

Hancock, like all players, has holes in her game but she’s so tough mentally and a great competitor. There doesn’t ever seem to be moments that are too big for her. It would be impossible to ask anything more from two players coming off the bench in Drew’s and Hancock. She is a winner. Won in high school, college and professionally. She finds a way to win. I think she should start until or if the team starts struggling. Poulter seems like a supportive teammate.

Google Translation:
After more than 20 years in the different categories of the national women's volleyball project of the Dominican Republic and having given absolutely everything of myself, even sometimes even more than was demanded of me, it is time to say goodbye with a certain nostalgia because when you love what you do as I have loved this sport, representing my country and my people it is impossible not to feel that pang in your heart. Also with joy because I leave with the satisfaction that I did not keep anything, that I did my best, that I have no pending accounts with me and that every drop of sweat was always worth it regardless of the cost of each one.
I confess that I never thought that my career would end this way, I always dreamed of winning that Olympic medal regardless of the color, I could not obtain it in these last Olympic Games, but the truth is that the respect, the affection, the support, which I have received and I will continue to receive from you has an incalculable value for me and that for me will be my medal.
I will continue representing my country but performing other functions, assuming another role and even if you do not see me on the court, believe me, I will be around. athlete but with the help of them as well as them with my help, that is what teamwork has always been about.
I will thank God until the last day of my life for having given me the opportunity to represent my country, for not allowing me to give up, for giving me strength when I thought I could not and for giving me the wisdom and ability to make the right decisions in the moments of anguish.
We will see each other at the cup in September to say goodbye at my house, with my audience, with my family and carry that flag on my chest, listen and sing our national anthem one last time on the field.

I couldn't agree more. I was reading the VB Mag article about these 12 athletes and the Micha part talked about her rescinding her commitment from Tulsa after the coach left and a spot opening up at Penn State. She was questioned about if she could handle going to such a great program. Seems like she has been good at fighting to prove she is worth it for years.

Micha is a great player, but she is not the reason this team is firing on all cylinders. MBH and JWO have been on fire in serve recieve and defense, facilitating our diversified offense. Micha is certainly doing her part, but she isn't and will never be the key to success for this team.

But the setting position is integral to connect the great passing to an efficient offense that scores. I love Poulter and Hancock and was rooting for them both coming into team selection and the games. Both have had a substantial chance to show what they can do (both with the great passing). I would give the nod to Micha based on performance and there is no injury question with her. However, I don't think Drews will be the answer against Serbia and I much prefer Thompson to play. If the connection between Micha and JT isn't there, I'd reconsider.

I don't want to take away the success they are providing to this teams success. But setting has been and will always will be a major key piece of the puzzle to a teams success. I feel the team is doing better now with Hancock at the helm versus Poulter at the helm. Why? Because Hancock is spreading the offense out and is not as predictable on who/where she's going to set. Poulter so was so dang predictable when she set the slide, and if she wasn't setting the oppo then she was setting our OH's 75% of the time. Which every player on the other side of the net knew she was going to do and had a well formed block up against said hitter. That's not a recipe for success. Hancock is giving hitters a better chance overall to have success. Yes, she has some trap sets to the OH, but it's not like Poulter was doing much better with her predictable nature.
