If we can control Bos the way we did Egonu...yes. Egonu had a lot of kills, but had a tremendous amount of errors due to the US defense. This is a bad read. Egonu didn't care about the American defense. Egonu just didn't... care. And why should she? It was pool play. You don't win a gold medal in pool play.

As opposed to last night when she cared so much and had 13 errors in 3 sets? You don’t win a gold that way either

The US has more balance and potential for more big contributors than Italy. One thing that the US won’t have the the Italians did is a player who gathers 13 errors in 3 sets. I think the US will do better than the Italians, even if the Americans aren’t playing at their best. Bosko is the main concern…
But Bosko ignored the Italian block for large portions last night and even De Gennaro probably only dug 3 balls that Bosko hit her way. Bosko swings every rotation which means she’ll also potentially have 3 rotations hitting towards Drews (if she starts) or Poulter (once again if she starts). Either way, she might be hitting to zone 1 with one of those players back there and it will be a near automatic kill each time.

Yes the USA right back defense sucks but Tijana is likely getting those kills on anyone so you gotta contain the middles and don’t let maja mess you up

Also, the transition offense will need to be better for the US from other positions than Opposite

Watching the match between DR vs US: USA setter is not that good in placing the ball for her hitters to have a chance to hit the ball. Most was tipped over net, due to bad setting, IMO

If MBH can be "on" and Hancock can carry their rhythm, I think the US can compete with Serbia. I really like the connection between Hancock and Haleigh/Annie.

I didn't get the chance to watch the full match so can someone tell me what Brazil did right to beat Serbia during pool play?

Hancock has the USA offense in a better rhythm....if we get Thompson back and have hancock setting, we will be in good shape. Gotta get the middles more involved. kind of a side take on this though is that I think Hancock has better chemistry with Drews than Poulter does
