If MBH can be "on" and Hancock can carry their rhythm, I think the US can compete with Serbia. I really like the connection between Hancock and Haleigh/Annie. Yes, but the queston is, can they really be "on" come match time?

I see their path to gold as sort of a redemption arc for the team. Starting with their semifinal tormentors at the last Olympics and then possibly a finals with the team that denied them of 2 gold medals. Would come full circle if the US manages to come together and perform to their potential. Good luck USA! Yeah, painful memory, US won set one against Brazil in London easily, only to choke the next 3 sets.

If kk think quick and use proper timing how to use sub when needed they have a chance. Usually he decides late change of players.

If we can control Bos the way we did Egonu...yes. Egonu had a lot of kills, but had a tremendous amount of errors due to the US defense. Hancock has the USA offense in a better rhythm....if we get Thompson back and have hancock setting, we will be in good shape. Gotta get the middles more involved. Our gameplan against Egonu was to block angle, give her line and trust that she would make enough errors to keep us in the match. I don't think that will work against Boskovic.

I think Serbia’s serving is of great concern. They put pressure on you all day long. USA is a damn good passing team. If they can hold up to the pressure and keep our middles involved I like our chances. If JT is playing maybe you can send her left side when we are serving to match up on Bosko it might be worth a few points late in the game…. Just a side comment. This is USA’s 4th semis in the last 4 Olympics. Pretty impressive. Time for us to get hot and pull through this quad. We have the pieces

In the past, didn't they sub Krob in for Bartch in the backrow once per game to stabilize passing? Is Bartch too valuable for the BiC to do this again?

I don't know enough about Serbia to know how the team should game plan for her. If you were the coach, how would you try to limit Boskovic? by getting kills in transition if by chance you dig her. There’s no way to set up your defense to limit her completely. She can hit around or over most blocks and has every single inch of the court in her tool box. If you do dig her though you HAVE to kill the ball that rally otherwise you’re giving her a second chance to score and you’re not digging her twice in the same rally often

Was Rio the last time USA played Serbia A team? With Maja setting yes - USA also played Serbia in the WGP Finals in 2017 with a lot of their main hitters, but they had Antonijevic (the back-up setter at the time) playing. Serbia won that match 3-2. The US was playing without a lot of their vets at the time (no Larson, Foluke, Robinson, Adams, or Hill, and Lowe was "retired" at that point)

Karch needs to keep whoever starts on a short leash and pull them if the team isn't winning. Period.
We shall see if he brought the best 12 players. This will be all on him. It always falls back on the coaches. I know some of ya'll support him and that is fine, but many of us have our doubts and we will see who was correct after today.
Though, to be fair, I think that if both teams play to their ceilings, Serbia will win. We just do not have a hitter of Bośković's caliber yet. Thompson should get there, but in time.
