Is it just my imagination, or does this thread have a certain bloodthirsty aspect to it? Uh yah. Along with 75% of all volleytalk I think what threw me off is the pitchfork I was issued when I clicked on this thread.

So from your original list, here is who is left that didn't make the tournament: Pac 12: Oregon State (5-25, Conf Rank: 11th/12) Colorado (15-14, Conf Rank: 10th/12) Big 10: Maryland (19-13, Conf Rank: 10th/14) Michigan State (11-18, Conf Rank: 11th/14) Big 12: TCU (8-18, Conf Rank: 10th/10) SEC: Georgia (12-17, Conf Rank: 8th/13) Arkansas (19-10, Conf Rank: 6th/13) *NIVC* Alabama (10-20, Conf Rank: 12th/13) LSU (13-14, Conf Rank: 7th/13) WCC: LMU (17-11, Conf Rank: 7th/10) SMC (15-12, Conf Rank: 5th/10) Pacific (13-16, Conf Rank: 4th/10) *NIVC*MWC: New Mexico (20-10, Conf Rank: 5th/11) Fresno State (12-14, Conf Rank: 8th/11) Nevada (3-26, Conf Rank: 11th/11) No wonder Jill Kramer of TCU 'stepped aside'. She finished 10th in the Big 12 which means she finished lower than Oklahoma State which doesn't even have a volleyball program. Quite amazing actually.

I'm surprised if there's not pressure on Cathy George. Michigan State used to be a really tough place for Nebraska to play, but the last few years they've been a gimme.
Football and hoops are in a great place in East Lansing. Is VB just not a priority?

Okay, maybe one more year, especially with the COVID-19 debacle, but, if she gets another year to bounce back, Cathy George should send Mel Tucker a nice Christmas gift for taking up the athletic department's funds. Yes, she has won a lot there, but 4 years of not being close to an NCAA bid after that was routine is not good. I don't love to see people who have had success lose their jobs, but Erbe did well there, and she did as well, so that is where the standards are. Pete Waite got one more year in a similar situation, but they were closer for the most part. If she does go, it was still a pretty good run in a tough league, as I think Waite's was overall. This seems like a year where MSU could make substantial position upgrades off of the transfer portal; and they have had success with that route previously. Cathy George is a very well respected coach whose players always seem to love playing for. But this last season was especially rough. I hope she can rebound the program and leave when she wants on her own terms.

Do we think there will continue to be people "leaving"? Do we think Kayla will actually leave Ole Miss? How much longer do we think Bird has at A&M? Would have loved to see her go this year...

Yes there will still be multiple big jobs open from people leaving. We haven’t event hit the convention window yet. It will slow down after convention because of the holidays but I imagine one more big cycle next week.

The Pac needs new blood to stay competitive. Can they please pay the coaches more money and get some good hires.

The Northwestern AD should use this as inspiration to make a change, too. Though he’s probably fire Shane and hire this guy 🙄

Pete Waite got one more year in a similar situation, but they were closer for the most part. If she does go, it was still a pretty good run in a tough league, as I think Waite's was overall. Larry Nassar was fired at the end of 2016 and the next two years were all about how Michigan State didn't protect it's female athletes. WVB was in the regional final and is now a losing program. WBB was top 3 in the big 10 for 6 of 7 years and is now a mid-tier program with the same coach. Women's Soccer was a .500+ program and then suddenly wasn't. In a situation like that it isn't the coaches that are failing the University, it's the University that failed the coaches by failing the student athletes. 156 victims called out Michigan State in court. Two consecutive University presidents, the AD, the Gymnastics coach, another Doctor, the head of the College of Medicine and the Assistant Dean for legal affairs all hit the road. MSU paid over $500 MILLION in lawsuits, a $4.5 million fine to the Department of Education and over $60 million in legal expenses. MSU's donor revenue went down 25%. Applications went down almost 10% (While Michigan's went up almost 10%) and the acceptance rate went up 12% to maintain enrollment. It looks like Michigan State has 5 Prep-volleyball top 250 players on the roster. Doesn't Wisconsin have like 8 Prepvolleyball top 25 players and a dozen or so top 250 players in the same conference? A lot of times you can point that finger at the coach, but I don't think this is one of them. No women's sport is succeeding at MSU right now and nobody should wonder why. Also, it wouldn't shock me if there were some incentives or protections offered the women's coaches to keep them from leaving in protest when the university was getting dragged through the mud. If George isn't allowed to leave on her own terms, my opinion of MSU would go even lower, and that isn't easy to do.
