They in the BIG if they were in any other conference with that brand new facility and 4 wins I would agree with you. It’s really hard to get situated in the BIG, Steve in any other league is on the hot seat, not the BIG. Agree they are in a hotbed of recruits, think he had some untimely transfers that hurt but I think IU has a good coach in Arid, but it’s not the SEC where you can take a bottom Job and make the tourney in your first 2 seasons. Please tell that to Ohio State, they didn't seem to have a problem. Or better yet tell that to Iowa where two years is enough. I don't really care all that much, but just find it interesting how this board gives him a pass and makes excuses for that program consistently. There is nothing that program is lacking to build a winner. I'm not saying he should be fired but his seat should be hotter than most on this list. Ohio St was heathy with recruits and current players on arrival. Jen is a great coach, but wayyyyy different situation walking into OSU vs IU. As for Iowa not completely sure what the deal was there but Steve has at least 2 more seasons before he should be mentioned here is my thought, I agree with you they can be a winner but what does winner look like to you for Steve? Top 6 in the big?

Top 6 in the big? As you said, the Big10 is tough. But after four years they shouldn't be losing to Western Michigan and Chicago State. Are you saying it was easier to build at Chicago State in 2 years than Indiana in 4 years? This is nothing personal with Steve, I'm sure he's a great guy, but so are many others on this list. I'm just pointing out that if he is not on a hot seat thread it is sad for Indiana and their expectations of the program. I think for now Indiana should be a tournament team, top 40-50 RPI should be attainable with that schedule. They should be in the 7-9 range within the Big10. Imagine the strength of the conference if Indiana and Northwestern lived up to their potential.

I think gaining traction in the B1Gs is hard. The top teams keep getting the top recruits and those fair to middling have their work cut out for them in finding gems in the rough.
McKenna Melville proved that finding that one special player can elevate your program, the trick is finding that next McKenna Melville that is overlooked by almost everyone else.

Whoever is complaining about Shane Davis must have ulterior motives. They’re competing well with Illinois. They took a set from Nebraska. Are they national contenders? No. But they’re decent. Unlike some people would have you believe, Northwestern is not Stanford. Looking forward to watching their upward trajectory. Shane Davis isn't leaving Northwestern any time soon. He will have plenty of time to build the team starting from this season on. I guess I'm wondering why you think Indiana is fine with this performance after four years in? I think it's a more urgent than you do. Indiana is a good volleyball state and just built a new facility, I think they should expect more than four conference wins and next to last place in the conference. In theory this is accurate. The expectation I’m sure isn’t that they’d be top 6 or 7 by now but they made a big jump in salaries and a beautiful facility and they’re probably worse given exodus of players. Zero tangible growth as a program. Absolutely not what they anticipated I’m sure. What is it about his track record that has you believing they have a good coach that’s going to elevate them up in that conference?

New thread or use the old one? I always prefer a new one. But that’s just me. I don’t even like it that the Stanford thread goes back to the prehistoric era, but my opinion doesn’t matter much, nor should it. The hot seat threads make me uncomfortable, lol. So weird to be squeamish when I’m not about a lot of other topics. But it’s an interesting topic and for sure deserves an active thread.
