Sheff and Barnes
In 3rd set Baylor got more aggressive from the serving line Lot of match depended on serving pressure Last night it was the pins, tonight it was the middles. Passing was key to keeping middle in the offense - no aces against. Julia has been doing great in attack and defense Adjustments to a packed Field House is also important.

I watched some of it and USC looked shoulders above more physical, the Spanish setter was jumping and dumping and the hitters were banging. The USC roster looks legit. With OH from Florida, great Libero and freshman setter in 6-2. Botkin is solid, the RS was hitting with ease... I was really surprised when I saw they've lost in 5. Maybe Pac12 is just down this year? (OSU beating #4 Washington tonght)

White Really liked how serving pressure caused trouble. Worked on Middles getting up early to sidestep block, worked well tonight Serving was great in sets 1 and 2, let off in the 3rd, got back to that in set 4. Pressley: a main game plan was reducing her approach by serving to her. They did that for 3 of 4 sets.
Waite Badgers look good and are really deep. Pete has family in town for his father's memorial service.

Really happy with the win and how the Badgers did it, apart from the third set. Only 4 hitting errors not directly caused by Baylor blocks and no aces against them.

Rettke and Hart were brilliant, 48 swings no errors Gio and Boyer serving They took over the fourth set like Inky and the Inkettes.

I know Baylor got clobbered, but I think the biggest loser here is Minny. Gophers couldn’t close 24-20 down 2-1. Benefit of that is it makes this match totally irrelevant

Also Orzol has to learn we're not playing by international rules. How many international rules has she messed up? Any of them cost the team points? Does anyone remember what this was referring to? I'm curious what it is about, since I didn't notice anything in particular.

You can do that internationally, but not in the US. That specific ball ended up hitting the ceiling and being played by a teammate while she harmlessly ran back into position.

Don’t see why it mattered

That specific ball ended up hitting the ceiling and being played by a teammate while she harmlessly ran back into position. The problem is that it took her completely out of the offense for no reason. She got back for the block, but that kind of miscalculation could have an important effect later in the season on a different play.

The problem is that it took her completely out of the offense for no reason. She got back for the block, but that kind of miscalculation could have an important effect later in the season on a different play. The ball suddenly redirected from something in the ceiling. She would not have been any more 'in the offense' unless she predicted it redirecting toward someone else quickly enough for her to have time to transition off the net. That's not real life. If that kind of miscalculation is the biggest issue she has, she's doing something right. Every player makes a miscalculation every time they lose a point, and ALL of those can have an important effect later in the season on a different play. It's silly to make a jab at a kid for one mistake.

Civita has been so solid the last two matches. Watching Civita tonight at the Field House, I saw what a rock she could be for the Badgers. She brought a lot of confidence to the others on the court. Her serving messed with Baylor for significant periods.
