I thought the Badgers looked like a well-oiled machine. Blocking numbers were low, but it appeared our block disrupted TCU. Floor defense was excellent.
Curious ehat Orzol's approach touch is. She has some explosiveness to her jump and a whip of an arm. Also, her serve can be quite lethal.
Smrek has a hammer and boy can she jump !

Baylor 2019 was pretty much a one-trick pony; the amazing Yossiana Pressley was taking half of the swings. Last night it was only 1/3, she was getting plenty of help from usual suspects Marieke Van der Mark and Avery Skinner. Pressley and Samedy were the respective leaders in both kills and digs, though not in hitting efficiency - cleaning up after too many junk sets. Samedy has astonishing hang time when she gets a good approach - so fun to watch. van der Mark has this amazing happy face after she gets a block - which occurs frequently, 1.75/set last night. Minnesota out-served Baylor, but Baylor out-blocked and out-dug them. Sets 1 and 4 were slugfests; set 2 was all Minnesota, set 3 was all Baylor - surprisingly different, which may be partly just first match of the season jitters. When the smoke cleared, Baylor had won 3 sets, but they only scored 3 more points than Minnesota, and minnie blew something like 6 set points in the fourth, which would have forced a fifth set.
Tonight should be some really exciting volleyball!

I think this will be a B1G win for Wisky. Baylor comes in fat and happy after taking out Minny and that sloppy setting from Sedgewick isn't going to cut it against Wisky's block.

Also, not enough people have commented on Joslyn Boyer's fabulous serving against TCU - 24 (!) attempts, 3x most of the other Badger players. Be interesting to see how Baylor plays against that rotation.

Especially in games like last night when there were maybe a few hundred badger fans remaining politely cheering here and there. And some Gopher fans but not too many. It was almost like Baylor brought along a student section. Do you switch outfits between matches? ;-) I just wore a neutral volleyball shirt, which I'll probably do tonight as well. |

It was reported that Smrek touches 11 feet. I believe it based on what i saw yesterday

Smrek does NOT touch 11 foot 2. Your point still stands that it’s a big block but there is absolutely no way she touches that high. Paula Egonu touches 11 foot 2 Smrek touches 11'2" now per Sheffield's podcast. sorry then that’s inflated. There’s absolutely no way she’s contacting at the same height as Paula Egonu. |

... if that so called cheering section gives them too much of an advantage by over taking the 8,000 badger fans idk what to tell you lol The fire marshal has capped ticket sales at 7450, and last night for TCU the stands were only half full. Though we'll probably see more people tonight. |

"Smrek is just different, she's at 11'2" Kelly Sheffield www.iheart.com/podcast/427-point-wisconsin-28308823/In the spring Wisconsin also tweeted out the jump touches of everyone over 10 foot. Why would they inflate Smrek but not Rettke? 10'6 sounds pretty low for her.. Not saying it's not inflated, but you typically see 'all' numbers rounded up when inflating happens. |

Those touch figures above are old. Devyn is 10'8, Smrek is 11'2"
