Now that we know the participants, lets see what the pools would look like if we seed the Dutch in Pool A and the Poles in Pool F Pool A: (Could be and interesting outcome for top 3) Netherlands Germany Belgium Kenya Pool B: (USA cake walk) USA Japan Korea Kazakhstan Pool C: (Probably the toughest top to bottom but still not that hard for BRA/RUS) Brazil Russia Bulgaria Czech Republic Pool D: (China cakewalk. Slugfest for 2nd/3rd between the others) China Dominicana Colombia Argentina Pool E: (Predictable) Turkey Italy Puerto Rico Cameroon Pool F: (Also Predictable, slightly tougher than E) Poland Serbia Canada Thailand I dunno how the FIVB is going to seed the hosts. But this is what the first round pools could look like. I'm sure the FIVB will release a detailed breakdown once we approach the drawing of lots, probably sometime in early 2022. Isn't it 4 pools of 6? never, ever, ever, ever say this again.

I honestly hate it, but it means the teams play fewer matches and the tournament is less grueling this way. Teams will play only 11 matches if they make it all the way to the medal rounds instead of 13.

If China cannot top that pool, then there are bigger problems than the head coach. No offense to those other teams but China definitely faced tougher competition at the OG's. This should be a bye to the 2nd round for them.

Really looking forward to this tournament. We're going to be seeing a lot of new faces for several of these teams.

I don't know if ZT will recover in time (this is 99% the main reason she did not get surgery before olympics), and LYY also got injured (on her left (i.e. spiking) wrist from collision when going for a ball... same injury as Zhu in 2017 WGP) in the national games. And there are rumors of ZCN wanting to take a break to have a baby (I think that's complete bs tbh). not to mention that the other middle at the olympics, Wang Yuanyuan, is out of the national games from stepping on someone's ankle when blocking.

But you guys can correct me if i'm wrong but with this format, is it possible to have 3 European teams in a pool? I remember from the last Men's DOL a rule like this... the same for Asian teams, 3 in the same pool?

I just did it based on the serpentine system with out any adjustments. With their being 10 European teams, several are likely to land in the same pool.

Looking forward to attend this tournament! Hopefully most of the games in the Netherlands will be played in Rotterdam instead of Apeldoorn.

Really wished Utrecht had a large and modern arena to host the event. Most people who go to the NL only get to see AMS, Den Haag, or Rdam, but Utrecht is breathtakingly beautiful. It’s kinda like Toledo, St. Tropez, or Portofino—smaller gems that get slept on by most international tourists. Rdam is a pretty decent city, though, and the Finnish sauna there was a literal blast 😛😛

Love the city with it’s car-free zones and dedicated bus lanes. Was there to watch King of the Court where the Norwegians placed 2nd behind the Swiss duo of Krattiger and Breer. If it were a beauty contest, the results would still be about right 😂😂😂 AMS, Rdam, Den Haag form a sort of tri-city metropolis where most sectors of business, culture, government, education, tourism, etc. are located. It helps that the main train lines connecting the Netherlands to the rest of Europe go through these cities as well. Eurostar to Paris, anyone? I guess Apeldoorn’s cute and all and that’s where the Dutch national teams train but I guess unless you were a hardcore fan, you wouldn’t venture all the way to the middle of nowhere to watch Serbia pulverize Cameroon.Â

My guess is they only seed 1-12 (with hosts getting 1 & 6) and then have two pools of 6 that will be drawn into the groupings.

That is when they will avoid having all 4 teams from the same Confederation in the same pool I'll bet. They might have to settle for 3. Trust me the other Confederations want the CEV teams to all clump together so that they have a shot of advancing as far as possible. I'm curious how it will all play out.
