At this point I'm fairly certain these will be the teams at the World Championships:
Bolded teams are already qualified
NOR 4 teams: USA, DOM, PUR and CAN.
CSV 3 teams: BRA, COL and ARG.
AVC 5 teams: CHN, JPN, KOR, THA and KAZ.
CAVB 2 teams: KEN and CMR.
CEV 10 teams: SRB, NED, POL, ITA, TUR, RUS, GER, BEL, BUL and CZE
Having two co-hosts makes the seeding very interesting. NED should be in pool A and POL in pool D.
The top 6 teams should be seeded, the rest should be in pots.
Based on Current World Rankings as of (8/30/21)
Pool A: NED (Host) RUS (6)
Pool B: USA (1) SRB (5)
Pool C: BRA (2) TUR (4)
Pool D: POL (Host) CHN (3)
Drawing of Lots:
Pot 1: DOM, ITA, JPN, BEL Pot 2: GER, KOR, BUL, PUR Pot 3: THA, CAN, COL, CZE Pot 4: KAZ, ARG, KEN, CMR
I still don't know how they will manage the 2nd round. If it is the same format as the 2018 Men's WChamps it will be harder for teams to "plan" match ups. The FIVB will probably make it easier for NED and POL to play at home as long as possible through the first two rounds. The 3rd and final rounds should be in the Netherlands.

I'm sure @avid will create the actual tournament thread (closer to the actual tournament) and it will be beautiful, but for now we need the "way too early" discussion thread.

I'm really annoyed that Kazakhstan is going to get a free ride into this tournament because the AVC isn't holding their Continental Championships. There really should be some sort of WR Points penalty. Now Croatia and France are likely not going to make the cut. Argentina will need to do well in the Pan-Am Cup in order to avoid missing out. Do we know when the CSV Continental Championships are happening? That is probably Argentina's best shot, especially if Brazil sends a weaker squad. www.fivb.com/en/volleyball/rankings/seniorworldrankingwomenCanada should be safe but will want to finish strong in the Pan-Am Cup. I'm curious who all will be at this tournament. Dominicana are the Pan-Am hosts and will likely bring a decent squad. The tournament has little weight so I don't think we will see much movement in the rankings.

CAVB has started their championship. Looks like some matches are being streamed on Facebook www.facebook.com/CAVBVolleyball/videos/?ref=page_internalA ton of teams (6-8) have withdrawn from the competition. If you want a schedule, it's on their facebook page. FIVB made the men's CAVB adjust their schedule (for some reason it has to be finished by Sept 15) so the women's schedule got changed.

I predict the USA, China, and Italy will be top 3. But who knows, it's too early to tell now and they're more of teams who I want to be on the podium rather than who I predict to be. For 2022 WCH, I hope to see new blood being added to the 14-player roster, such as SWP and Plummer. On the setter side, I hope Carlini can make it this time.
But first of all, we need to look at how they perform this upcoming pro season.

Nawrocki has resigned as Poland's coach. Good. Time for some new blood. I think he wasn't doing the team any favors. They have plateaued and a shake up at the top could be just what is needed. I wish the USA Men's program would also get an overhaul, but that is a topic for the men's board. I think all the pieces for Poland to be one of the top CEV teams are there. Hopefully they get someone solid so the team looks good for this tournament and beyond.

This summer really showed Poland has no replacement for her. Stysiak/Smarzek are a work in progress... but Nowicka just isn't that good. The Polish federation has money... They need Wolosz (and her commitment through 2024).... go get Santarelli if that's what's needed. (Or Lavarini, since the federation doesnt want a club coach)

Santarelli is pretty committed to Croatia I think, but by all means get Lavarini out of Korea. Wolosz would definitely come play for him.
